The Princess of Wales broke her summer cover on Saturday for a family outing to the 2026 Commonwealth Games. The royal was effortlessly elegant for the group day out in a flattering striped summer look with her hair looking so incredibly long and glamorous.
Kate's chestnut brown tresses tumbled well past her shoulders and down her back in a cascade of loose, polished waves in Glasgow on 1 August. She parted her caramel highlighted locks to the side with a section swept over one shoulder as she watched the day's sporting events enthusiastically from the crowd with her husband, Prince William, their three children and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
While Kate and her family have temporarily retreated from public duties for their annual extended summer break, which they typically spend with other members of the royal family in Scotland, they returned to the spotlight for the penultimate day of the Commonwealth Games. This summer marks the last for the Waleses as a family before their first born son, Prince George, embarks on his secondary education at Eton College in September.

The Princess of Wales was the picture of poise in Glasgow over the weekend in a chic summer-approved ensemble. Kate arrived alongside her husband and their three children – Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, eight – in a US $175 (approx. £130) striped sweater vest by New York label La Ligne, as identified by Royal Fashion Police on Instagram.

The Princess perfectly matched her daughter, Princess Charlotte, in stripes for the family occasion. Charlotte looked lovely in a collared Guess polka dot dress with tiers of stripes spaced out across the skirt. The young royal's hair was out in loose and natural waves past her shoulders, looking just like her mother's glamorous 'do.

While she's slowly returned to her signature chocolate brown roots, the royal has switched up her hair colour and length on occasion. The royal went lighter in May 2025 before showing off her honey blonde transformation following summer break when she made an appearance at the Natural History Museum in London last September.
"It really is a huge seasonal change, and I always recommend to my ladies, it's really important living in the UK to have that seasonal change - not to be necessarily dictated to by fashion, because as Oscar Wilde said, fashion comes, fashion goes but style lasts forever, and the Princess certainly is the radiant jewel in our crown," Colourist to the stars and royalty, Daniel Galvin Jr MBE, told HELLO! about Kate's blonder locks.
"Kate's a natural beauty chameleon that can take red, brunette or blonde tones, so this is a wonderful time of year for her to have made this transition," he added.
"It's quite a contrast to her former brunette locks, which is of course is part of her trademark. People say 'don't go lighter in the winter,' but I don't go by instructions in a book or follow manuals, I go against the grain. I think going lighter in the winter, particularly with the fashion colour tones of burgundy, navy and the more muted tones this season, it's making her eyes look stronger, bluer this time of year."
