The Princess of Wales has a Halloween surprise for royal fans on Saturday when she shared a never-before seen photo of her youngest son, Prince Louis.
In the image, which was taken by Catherine, a one-year-old Louis looked happier than ever, faced with a large pumpkin while wearing a beautiful blue raincoat in Norfolk.
"Happy Halloween! [Pumpkin emoji]. Prince Louis, aged 1, photographed by The Princess of Wales," were the words accompanying the image on the official social media channels for the Prince and Princess of Wales.
In the beautiful photograph, little Louis is also wearing dark blue denim jeans and letterbox red Wellington boots.
"Aww he is adorable," one fan penned alongside three blue love heart emojis. A second added: "So sweet! What a throwback for Halloween! Hope the kids enjoy the holiday as much as they can before going back to school. Save some sweets for yourselves, Kate and William."
While we can't get over Louis' Middleton family features in the sweet throwback snap, some fans thought the tiny Prince was the image of his elder brother, Prince George in the photo.
"Adorable! Wow, looks so much like George here!" they wrote.
William and Catherine take the family trick-or-treating
In 2022, Jay Rutland, husband of Tamara Ecclestone, who lives close to William and Kate's former London residence, Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace, shared in January 2023: "Kate knocked on our door in London with their kids on Halloween. 'Trick or Treating'. Very friendly and down-to-earth."
He also shared a photo which showed the trio at the large black gates of the Rutland-Ecclestone abode. Prince Louis, then four, could be seen eagerly grabbing the gates with both fists next to his sister, Charlotte, then seven, Prince George, then 11, stood behind his siblings next to Kate, who was beaming from ear to ear.
Two years later, in 2024, Kate was spotted buying Halloween costumes for her brood at Sainsbury's in Amner, Norfolk. Fellow shopper Kathy Whittaker, who spotted the Princess in the King's Lynn branch back in 2019, told The Mirror at the time: "She was with Charlotte and George looking at Halloween outfits but her bodyguard was kind of watching people with phones and telling them no pictures. I managed to get the photo as she was at the self-service checkout.
"I didn't see what she actually bought. The lady that told me she was there had children with her and she said Kate was asking her children what they were going to be for Halloween. I think she bought some Halloween bits for her kids, but I don't know what."
Do the royal family decorate their homes for Halloween?
According to HELLO!'s Homes Editor, Rachel Avery: "Historically, Halloween hasn't been publicly celebrated by the royal family. Queen Victoria was said to want members of royalty to 'uphold total class and sophistication' at all times, which meant no dressing up."
However, the rules have been slightly relaxed over the years. We do know that Kate's mother, Carole Middleton, is a huge fan of Halloween.
When Carole had her own company, Party Pieces, she revealed on their social media: "Halloween is an Autumn highlight for me. I can still remember the fun and frights from my own childhood; the chance to dress up, decorate pumpkins and go trick-or-treating! I've even grown my own pumpkins this year, so I'm looking forward to decorating those with my loved ones."
