Like mother, like daughter. The Princess Royal attended the Household Cavalry's centenary dedication of the Guards Memorial on Friday, where she was heard sounding a lot like the late Queen Elizabeth as she conversed with 100-year-old John Barber, who served with the Irish Guards from 1944 to 1948.

Royal author Robert Hardman has previously told HELLO! that while Anne is described as her father's daughter, there are similarities between the Princess Royal and her mother.

"It's often said that [Anne is] her father's daughter – the directness, the no-nonsense approach, the love of the sea," Robert has said.

"She is the family sailor now that he's gone, and she loves all that. But what several of the family have pointed out to me is actually the similarity with her mother.

"That attention to detail, great memory, sense of humour, low ego, capacity to get on with it… of course, there's the sense of duty, but also the sense of humour."

Anne stepped out wearing a navy coat and checked pants for the engagement on October 16, where she unveiled the newly restored Guards Memorial and laid a wreath. The Princess, who is Senior Colonel of the Foot Guards, also addressed attendees, telling them: “As we gather here a century later, our foremost purpose remains to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice."

“This memorial stands as a lasting expression of our gratitude," she said in her remarks. "Its significance has not diminished with the passage of time, rather each generation has a responsibility to understand the sacrifice it commemorates to ensure that it is never forgotten."

At the rededication of the Guards Memorial at Horse Guards to commemorate 100 years since the memorial was unveiled, King Charles' sister met with serving members of the Guards, cadets, Chelsea Pensioners and veterans.

Anne's appearance comes after a YouGov poll named the Princess the "most popular" member of the British royal family, with 67 percent of the public expressing a positive opinion of Queen Elizabeth's daughter. She ranked ahead of both the Princess of Wales and the Prince of Wales.

In the past, Majesty Magazine's Managing Editor Joe Little has highlighted how the royal's work ethic has won her a lot of praise. He's previously told HELLO!: "The Princess Royal, with more than half-a-century of duty and experience under her belt, is regarded by her brother the King as the ultimate pair of safe hands.

"Her no-nonsense attitude and work ethic, which even in her 70s shows no signing of waning, has won her a lot of praise – not that she would seek it – from the media and the public over the years."
