The Prince of Wales looked impeccably smart on Tuesday during the official welcome for the Sultan of Oman as well as the grand state banquet held at Windsor Castle. There was a subtle moment caught on camera when Prince William was seen readjusting his own posture ahead of greeting the Middle Eastern state leader.
The father-of-three didn't appear to be prompted to make the correction, but simply took it upon himself to shake out and reset his shoulders as music started to play during the official moment, which took place in the pouring rain. The royal, who is heir to the throne, is well-trained in terms of etiquette and poise, so ensuring he is standing to attention perfectly is likely to come as second nature to him.
Later that day, the senior royals came together again as King Charles III and his wife Queen Camilla hosted a grand state banquet. A full service was laid out within St George's Hall for 160 guests, creating a show-stopping display.
HELLO!'s Royal Editor, Emily Nash reported from on the ground in Windsor, noting that the gorgeous flowers on display on the table included handpicked dahlias, roses, hydrangeas, cyclamen and verbena from the gardens at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and The Savill Garden in Windsor Great Park. The pretty blooms were admired by Queen Camilla, but her unique gesture raised eyebrows among royal watchers.
The Sultan of Oman is a billionaire who owns at least two residences in the UK, but he reportedly stayed at Windsor Castle overnight before the King and Queen gave him a formal farewell on Wednesday and he headed for the airport. Camilla was heard wishing him a "good journey back".
Princess Catherine's close call
During the decadent meal on Tuesday evening, fans online couldn't help but notice a potential problem for Princess Catherine, who got her beautiful yellow dress caught underneath her chair. "Nooooooo the chair on the dress," one person noted, while another worried: "If she gets up, chaos will follow."
Despite the momentary mishap, the royal appeared to remain unfazed and further photos showed her standing at her seat, with her dress perfectly unaffected.
Catherine's head-turning gown with cape detail was crafted by Lebanese designer Elie Saab, and she paired it with Queen Mary's Lover's Knot Tiara, a piece we've seen her wear for many other important occasions. The ensemble drew comparisons to Belle from Disney's Beauty and the Beast - so stunning!
