It's official - Alison Hammond loves to wear polka dots. Just as I was getting a bit fatigued by this season's most popular print, the This Morning presenter had me rethinking my disregard of the trend with her stunning - and super expensive looking - polka dot dress.
Alison's dress is the fresh take I'd been searching for. The print is, literally, everywhere, from royal events to the high street and I personally was finding it a little predictable.
But thanks to Alison, I'm now back on the polka dot train and it's all down to her luxurious brown dress that's a high street steal. Yes, it's from Next and only costs £65.
- Alison Hammond joined Dermot O'Leary to present This Morning on Wednesday, July 29.
- Alison looked stylish in the Next Chocolate Brown Spot Twist Front Long Sleeve Satin Maxi Dress, £65.
- The TV presenter teamed the dress with a pair of fancy flats from Air & Grace.
Alison's polka dot dress is the sort of maxi you could waft around any event in; smart, formal occasion? Add a heel. Summer BBQ? Grab those flat sandals and enjoy the fact that this dress has a special tummy concealing detail - the knot front. Genius.
The 51-year-old has turned to Next for her latest This Morning outfit, with stylist Rachael Hughes choosing the high street store's Chocolate Brown Spot Twist Front Long Sleeve Satin Maxi Dress.
The dress stopped me in my tracks for many reasons. Firstly, I find a long sleeved dress achingly chic - always so stylish! And the knot front detail added a point of interest; where other maxi dresses simply skim the body, this pulls in at the waist to give you a more hourglass figure.
The satin material is pleasingly luxe too. A silky maxi has the air of money and even though this is only going to set you back £65, it really does have a designer look about it.
Slinky, sexy and yet so classic, it really is stunning. Available in sizes 6 - 26, there's also a tall version available so that it really does sit to the ankles, even if you're on the taller side.
Alison teamed it with a pair of fancy flats from Air & Grace. The Anais Pointed T-Bar Flats are a great alternative to a heel, offering the same smart aesthetic to a look without the pain of a heel.
The chocolate brown and white design is a nice change from the black and white polka dot looks we're used to seeing. She previously wore a similar colourway to meet Prince Harry, with a more fitted version.
HELLO!'s Hollie Brotherton commented on the polka dot trend: "The timeless style is elegant but playful, statement but effortless, sophisticated but fun, which could explain the royal's unwavering penchant for the print.
"Its history goes way back, first peaking in popularity in the 1920s, before another boom in the 1950s thanks to the likes of Lucille Ball and Marilyn Monroe."
Alison's recent This Morning outfits
Alison and Dermot are such a joyous pairing on This Morning, and Alison's really found her style for the ITV show.
Last week, she turned to polka dots again, choosing the Monsoon Amaya Puff Sleeve Polka Dot Maxi Dress in red. With its tea dress silhouette, it was a more traditional polka dot dress than her Next version but still hit all the sartorial notes we love to see.
And on Tuesday's show, it was back to Alison's staple - a co-ord. She chose the Yours Clothing Brown Wavy Boxy Shirt and matching trousers, a style Alison really does love to wear.
