Hurray for the weekend! If you need inspiration for things to do over the next few days in London, look no further. From a restaurant that offers takeaway picnics to the best bar to celebrate World Gin Day, we've got you covered...
Up your picnic game at The Balcon
Hummus and crisps? No thanks. It's time to up your picnic game and head to The Balcon in the Sofitel Hotel, where you can have a French-inspired pique-nique in style. Served in a wicker basket with crockery and glasses, each hamper is packed with delicious treats, from ham, cheese and chutney baguettes to a cheese and charcuterie platter. You can also expect the traditional scones with jam and cream, and some very delectable Parisian pastries. Simply head to The Balcon to collect your hamper, take it to nearby St James' Park and drop it off back at the hotel once you're done.
Bring your own booze to Moonshine Saloon
Remember all that fuss about BYO bar, Alcotraz? Well, the brains behind the prison-inspired pop-up have come up with another concept, and it's just as impressive (with the same BYO policy). Moonshine Saloon is set in the wild, wild west, where sheriffs and cowboys rule the roost, so naturally you'll be given everything from shirts to accessories to blend in with the bustling crowd. Just try and avoid sheriff while you're there; if he catches you drinking moonshine, you'll be in a lot of trouble.
Celebrate World Gin Day at Dandelyan
World Gin Day? It's kind of a big deal, and to celebrate all things juniper, Dandelyan have teamed up with Bombay Sapphire to open a Botanical Suite for the entirety of June. Yup - you heard. With a terrace overlooking the Thames and a weekly changing menu, it's an absolute must visit. This weekend the cocktails will be focusing on the Disco Era, which means you'll get your hands on a beautifully balanced Sex on the Beach.
Sunday bottomless brunch at The Green Room
What better way to spend Sunday than outdoors having bottomless brunch? The Green Room has launched a two and three-course menu, which is served with unlimited Prosecco or Bloody Marys. Food wise, highlights include the restaurant's signature burger and baked cod for mains, and the crushed avocado and bacon mac and cheese fritters for starters. As expected from their name, the eatery has a sun-trapped outdoor space - perfect for whiling away an afternoon.
Visit the Pierre Marcolini ice cream dipping counter
In need of cooling down from the summer heat? Pierre Marcolini is offering ice cream lovers the chance to create their own unique lolly at their DIY dipping counter. Simply choose your lolly, which come in six flavours including new for this year, coconut, and dip it into one of six signature chocolate sauces, from milk chocolate and almonds to white chocolate and roasted sesame seeds.
