Happy Friday! There's plenty on offer in the capital this weekend, from new restaurants and dishes to try, to making the most of the last days of summer at an outdoor cinema. Read on for fun things to do in London...

Have brunch at Camden's most Instagrammable venue

Give your reliable eggs Benedict order a miss this weekend and try out Duo's new bottomless brunch. Penned as 'Camden's most Instagrammable venue', this flower-filled funhouse will see you scoffing stacks of pancakes with (almost) every topping imaginable, and washing it all down with bottomless prosecco. Sold? 'Cause we most certainly are.

Watch Oscar-winning The Shape of Water outdoors

shape of water

Nominated for 13 Academy Awards and winner of Best Picture and Best Director among other gongs, The Shape of Water was one of 2017's biggest movie releases. But don't worry if you never got to see it in the cinema - it's getting its own screening on Saturday 8 September at Queen's Park, thanks to roaming pop-up Nomad Cinema. Pack a blanket, curl up under the stars and watch this romantic fantasy with a few drinks from the local cafe.

Solve a mystery at The Mousetrap

the mousetrap cast

See a brand new cast at London's longest ever running play, an Agatha Christie murder mystery play which keeps you hooked from start to finish. The show's ending has been kept a secret from cast and audience members alike for decades, so you won't get any spoilers here, but let us just say that the show is the perfect choice for a classic afternoon or evening in London, particularly if you pair it with an afternoon tea!

Have a bite to eat in Knightsbridge

Take a trip to this Central Asian-inspired restaurant, which is inspired by The Silk Route.

The beautiful food, created by renowned head chef Sergey Batukov, the dishes range from the fabulous Butternut Squash Manti, incredible Chebureki minced lamb, or butterfly sea bass is the perfect choice for anyone who would prefer to fish. The restaurant has a lovely, chilled atmosphere in a gorgeous period three-story townhouse. For anyone who loves Central Asian cuisine with a modern twist, this place is the real deal. Also not to be missed are the fabulous cocktails, and we would recommend the cherry Bellini with almond foam - delicious!

Treat your tastebuds to a new gourmet hotdog

claw and mac mash up

Introducing a new gourmet hotdog like you've never tried before... The Wild Claw. CLAW and Mac & Wild restaurants have teamed up to create the ultimate surf and turf treat, consisting of Mac & Wild's Scottish wild venison sausage topped with CLAW's succulent lobster and spicy Szechuan chilli, all encased in the seafood restaurant's signature brioche roll. The hotdog will feature on the menu until 30 September - this is the first weekend you can try it!

Enjoy panoramic views whilst dining at Oblix West

oblix menu

Head to Oblix West where you can stop for a quick lunch whilst enjoying the paranarmic views of London. From the Elevator Lunch Menu, the dishes which come highly recommended include the truffle flatbread with pancetta, the lamb rump with puy lentils, parsley and mint, and of course the delicious pecan nut & chocolate bar, crunchy bourbon ice cream. Go on, treat yourself!

Order from this new Egyptian takeaway

Bored of your usual Chinese or Indian takeaways? Then you have to check out Koshary Kitchen based in Battersea. Chef Ramy Abdelrehim launched his delivery and catering company after failing to find a great koshary (a traditional Egyptian street food dish of rice and lentils topped with tomato sauce, chickpeas and fried onions) in London. Ramy makes 18 different types of koshary including ones topped with chicken, shrimps, okra and merguez but our absolute favourite is the meatballs dish! For the health conscious, low-carb and wholegrain options are also available. Home or office deliveries are available via Caterwings, Jinn, Caterbase, City Pantry, Deliveroo, UberEats and Just Eat. Alternatively, Ramy can be booked for private events and functions.

Get ready for Jeans for Genes Day

peter andre jeans for genes

The annual fundraising campaign Jeans for Genes Day is back this month, and while it doesn't actually happen until Friday 21 September, it's always best to be prepared! This year stars including Peter Andre, Kimberley Walsh and Una Healy are lending their support to the campaign, which raises money for children and families affected by life-altering genetic disorders. Funds raised will help Genetic Disorders UK charity provide grants to organisations for projects, day-to-day support, equipment, respite and events which bring together affected children and their families. So sign up for a free fundraising pack on the website, pull on a pair of jeans and make a donation on the day!

Book ahead for next week's pop-up whisky bar

soleo collection

Single malt Scotch brand, The Glenrothes, is launching London’s first ever pop-up Honesty Bar for one night only at East London subterranean cocktail bar TT Liquor on Wednesday 12th September. It’s to mark the launch of its new range of premium, age-statement whiskies – The Soleo Collection – all made from 100% sherry-seasoned casks, which gives it a lighter, fruitier finish. For £10 per ticket, you will have a welcome ‘Soleo Sling’ plus full access to an unlimited number of bespoke whisky cocktails and drams all from the new Soleo Collection (ranging from 10 years old to 25 years old) and a selection of Wee Plates from Scottish foodies Mac & Wilde.
