Sandra Bullock is celebrating her first Mother's Day since making her grand debut on Instagram with a very sweet tribute to the mothers in her life, and her own two kids.
The actress, 61, is very protective of her two children, 16-year-old Louis and 12-year-old Laila, who don't make public appearances either. But for the special occasion, she delighted fans with a throwback shot of the two.
Sandra first included a photo with her own mom Helga Mathilde and her grandmother (who she called "Omi"), which also included her sister Gesine. She then added a photo of herself with her two children when they were just kids.
Both their faces were partially obscured, with Laila pictured in a costume dress and Louis wearing a cape and large black top hat that also hid him.
"To all the mamas, No matter how you came to be, Happy Mother's Day. We are all bound by this honor of a lifetime," she penned in her caption. "Mom and Omi, thank you for teaching me. We miss you, sorry I was such a brat."
Lily Collins commented on the post: "And thank you for being my first on screen mama. Forever grateful for you," with Mindy Kaling adding: "Sandy why are you making me cry it's 730."
Other fans left responses like: "Happy Mother's day to you too!! I hope you have the most amazing day with your kids," and: "Happy mama's day, mama bullock," with one also quipping: "Still can't get used to the fact that Sandie got insta lol!"
For a few years in the 2020s, Sandra took a step back from public life and acting to devote time to being a present mom to her two kids. That extended into the grieving period for her longtime partner Bryan Randall, who died after a battle with ALS in 2023.
But the actress is now back in action and back to work, making her social media debut just last month in connection with the arrival of the Practical Magic sequel, which will hit theaters this September.
During an appearance at the CNBC Changemakers Summit recently, Sandra also noted that even with her comeback, her kids remain her priority, which was a key factor while filming Practical Magic 2 over the summer.
"I'm not going to sacrifice my time with my kids," she said during a panel. "They'd be happy if I was gone, I would not." She continued: "I do not do my best work if my children are struggling or if they need something and I can't facilitate it. I'm raising my children, not anybody else."
"But I have the luxury of doing that in this business. So many people don't. And I understand that grief and that angst when you are at work, going, 'I'm not where I need to be right now. I'm here being performative and doing my job.' But guess what? Women can do it. We can do 15 things at one time and get it done."
