Katie Holmes had a weekend to remember as she marked Mother's Day with her beloved daughter, Suri Cruise, 19.
The Dawson's Creek star shared a very rare glimpse into her celebrations, taking to Instagram to post a joyful collage of pictures capturing their day together, which she captioned: 'Happy Mama Day!'
The collage captured what appears to have been a cozy day at home with Suri. The top of the image features a glimpse of a wooden shelf holding colorful cake pops decorated with blue and chocolate frosting and topped with sprinkles.
The bottom half of the collage features several photos of fresh flowers. In the middle of the collage, there's a photo of what appears to be folded up fabric bags.
Katie - who shares Suri with ex-husband Tom Cruise - is incredibly close to her only daughter, who she raised in New York City.
The 19-year-old left home to attend college at Carnegie Mellon University in 2024, but regularly comes back to visit. At the time of her college move, the teen was pictured arriving at her new residence with her actress mom, who was seen helping her to carry her luggage.
While very different from Manhattan, her new college campus offers a lot of activities, as well as plenty of dining options too, and a state-of-the-art fitness center.
Katie had previously admitted to having mixed feelings about her only child flying the nest. During an interview with Town & Country ahead of Suri's move, she said: "I’m proud of my daughter. Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I’m really proud of her and I’m happy. I remember being this age, this time of beginnings. It’s exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that."
Suri has shown a strong interest - and talent - for singing and performing and is thought to be pursuing a degree in the arts.
When she graduated from LaGuardia High School in 2024, she specialised in music as her talent. She also sang Blue Moon in the opening of Katie's film, Alone Together, back in 2022.
Her mom was more than proud of her too when telling Yahoo! Entertainment about her daughter's role in the movie. "She's very, very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it and I let her do her thing," Katie said. "That's the way I direct in general: It's like, 'This is what I think we all want - go do your thing'."
The mom-of-one was asked why she chose Suri for the job and she said: "I always want the highest level of talent, so I asked her."
It's been an exciting time for Katie, who has been getting stuck into lots of impressive acting projects. Next month, her much-anticipated film, Happy Hours, will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival.
She wrote and directed the romantic dramedy film, and also stars in it, alongside her Dawson's Creek co-star, Joshua Jackson, as well as Mary-Louise Parker, Joe Tippett, and Constance Wu.
