Katie Holmes' daughter, Suri, is following in her mom's footsteps after landing a role in a William Shakespeare play.

The Dawson's Creek alum starred in a production of The Duchess of Malfi in 1989, and now Suri will put her acting skills to the test in Midsummer! a modern take on Shakespeare's iconic play, A Midsummer Night's Dream.

The 20-year-old will perform the 90-minute production alongside some of her Carnegie Mellon University classmates, according to Page Six, at the Trust Arts Education Center's Peirce Studio in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

According to reports, Suri will star in two shows, scheduled for July 31 and August 1, before the cast and crew take Midsummer! across the pond for its UK debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival from August 7 to August 31.

Despite claims of Suri's involvement, her name is not listed among the cast on the school's website. HELLO! has reached out for comment.

Suri, who will enter her junior year at Carnegie Mellon in the fall, was previously believed to be "leaning toward" a degree in fashion, but it has now been reported that she is studying musical theater in the college's school of drama.

Midsummer! isn't Suri's first foray into acting. In March, she played Angel in Cosmic Microwave Background, a one-night-only staged reading at Pittsburgh's New Hazlett Theater as part of its CSA: Off the Page series.

She also features in her mom's 2022 movie, Alone Together, in which she sings "Blue Moon" in the opening credits.

Katie spoke to Yahoo! Entertainment about her daughter's role in the movie at the time, and said: "She's very, very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it, and I let her do her thing.

"That's the way I direct in general: It's like, 'This is what I think we all want - go do your thing.'"

The mom-of-one was asked why she chose Suri for the job, and she said: "I always want the highest level of talent, so I asked her."

Suri and Katie are incredibly close, and despite their distance since Suri's move to college, she has gone back to visit her mom on several occasions, from surprising her on her birthday to watching her perform in her Broadway show, Our Town, just weeks after moving to Pittsburgh.

Suri left NYC in August 2024, marking an incredibly bittersweet moment in both her and Katie's lives.

At the time, she was pictured arriving at her new residence with her mom, who was seen helping her to carry her luggage.

It's thought that Suri shared a dorm with another female student, swapping her NYC apartment for typical college living quarters.

While very different from Manhattan, her college campus offers a lot of activities, as well as plenty of dining options, and a state-of-the-art fitness center.

Before Suri's big move, Katie spoke to Town and Country magazine about her only child leaving home.

Katie is incredibly proud of her 'talented' daughter

"You want them to stay with you forever, but they're these amazing beings, and you have to do everything you can to give them what they need — and then they're going to go. And that's going to be very, very sad for me," she said in 2024.

"Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I'm really proud of her, and I'm happy," she continued.

"I remember being this age, this time of beginnings. It's exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that."
