Violet Affleck proved that she can rock any hairstyle during an outing in Los Angeles with her mother, Jennifer Garner, and her younger brother, Samuel. The trio enjoyed a family day out together on Saturday as they stopped to get a scoop of ice cream amid Violet's return to her hometown.

The 20-year-old recently completed her second year at Yale University in Connecticut, and returned with a fresh new bob in a change-up from her usual long brunette locks. Violet, who is the spitting image of her famous mother, looked stylish in two-toned blue jeans, a Chappell Roan tee, a fluffy pink cross-body bag and black sneakers.

Meanwhile, Jennifer looked stylish in black leggings, a red flannel shirt and white sneakers, and her son, Samuel, sported green sweats, a white T-shirt and white sneakers.

Violet's hair transformation was front and center after she took off her mask, which she usually wears for protection in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. She has long been an advocate for mask mandates and revealed in 2024 to the Los Angeles County Board of Directors that she suffered from a post-viral condition contracted from COVID-19.

"I'm okay now, but I saw firsthand that medicine does not always have answers to the consequences of even minor viruses," she said in her speech. "The COVID-19 pandemic has thrown that into sharper relief."

The college student is also an environmental advocate, and revealed in a May 2025 research paper published in Yale's Global Health Review, that she butted heads with Jennifer in the aftermath of the Southern Californian wildfires in January 2025.

In her essay titled A Chronically Ill Earth: COVID Organizing as a Model Climate Response in Los Angeles, Violet wrote: "I spent the January fires in Los Angeles arguing with my mother in a hotel room."

"She was shell-shocked, astonished at the scale of destruction in the neighborhood where she raised myself and my siblings," she continued. "I was surprised at her surprise: as a lifelong Angelena and climate-literate member of Generation Z, my question had not been whether the Palisades would burn but when."

She added that her younger brother, Samuel, was confused about the connection between climate change and the devastating fires. "Hopefully, most of us understand the climate crisis better than my little brother," Violet wrote.

Jennifer shares Violet, Samuel and their sibling, Fin, with her ex-husband, Ben Affleck. The pair were married from 2005 to 2015, and remained close friends following their split for the sake of their three kids. However, co-parenting after divorce was not always easy for Jennifer and Ben, as she explained on Bustle's One Nightstand podcast.

"When your kids grow up in two separate households, I become mom and dad, and he becomes dad and mom," the actress said. "You kind of can't help it, right? Because you don't have the benefit of both sides, the yin and yang being in the same house, so you have to have a bit of both in the way you parent."

"There's a little bit of loss in that, but there's also something gained in that…You also just learn, it's made me let go and not focus so much on the bringing up."
