Carson Daly has revealed that he and his 13-year-old daughter, Etta, "never speak" anymore.

The TODAY show star, 52, made his confession during an appearance on TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle, but admitted he has found a unique way to communicate with the teenager.

"I have a 13-year-old, Etta, who is doing great, who I never speak with," he joked. "Do you speak 13-year-old? Cause I don't."

Carson then revealed that he has taken to using Snapchat to check in with his daughter, admitting they have communicated more through the app than "in real life."

"You ever hear that phrase, 'You've got to meet kids where they are?' You hear it in business a lot, right? They want to advertise, get in front of them," he explained.

"I've taken a page out of that and six months ago, I did join Snapchat," he continued. "I have literally communicated with my daughter, in particular, more via Snapchat than I have in real life."

Giving an example of their typical conversations, Carson said: "I can say, 'Are you okay?' And then I'll put some stupid emoji, and she'll write back, like, 'LOL,' and all these little things are flying all over the screen.

"As silly as it is, I am connected a little bit," he added, smiling.

The Voice host has been married to his wife Siri Pinter since 2015, and alongside Etta, the couple shares son Jackson, 17, and daughters London, 11, and Goldie, six.

Carson shared an update on all his kids while on the show, admitting London is "doing great," and Goldie is an absolute "riot," and her best friend is the family's cockapoo, Buckey.

Jackson will soon be leaving the family home as he has started looking at colleges, but Carson joked he will never be far from his son.

"I'm looking for real estate around the university," he jokingly confessed, adding: "Every time we drive by LIU [Long Island University] Post, I'm like, 'Buddy, we're going to get a sick apartment here, I'm gonna hang out, it's gonna be great.'

"In my mind, I'm going with him to college; the reality hasn't hit yet that I'm not going," he emphasized.

Elsewhere in the episode, the conversation turned to his children's future dating pool and what would be a deal-breaker for him, referring to Kylie Kelce's recent comments that she wouldn't let her kids date a Dallas Cowboys fan.

"The only reservation I would have for my kids would be, like, a vegan or something like that maybe…" he began before adding: "Is that bad to say? Am I gonna get canceled for that?"

When co-host Jenna Bush Hager asked for clarification, Carson explained: "Food is, like, a really important part of, like, the fabric of our family. If we didn't have food, I wouldn't talk to my wife about anything.

"It holds us together, so if one of them brought home a date who was super picky. Like, ‘I don't eat anything — fish from the sea, cows that go moo.' Like, I've got a Traeger [smoker], bro."
