Barry Manilow isn't afraid to admit his vanity has led him to get some professional help to maintain his youthful glow.

The 82-year-old opened up about cosmetic surgery in a new interview published on May 27, revealing that he doesn't need to rely on Botox because he's had a facelift.

"I look fantastic, but I'm a hundred years old, right? I don't know how that happened, by the way — I don't get Botox or anything," he revealed.

When asked if he's had any "work done," Barry said "no," before confessing that he has had "one" facelift, although he didn't specify when.

"I must say: There was one time when we lived in L.A. that I did do a facelift," he told the Los Angeles Timesbefore alluding to other cosmetic procedures, which he did not specify.

"But after that, it's just been a little here, a little there. 'Work' is like a facelift, and I only had one of those. The rest of it — I see something falling down, sure, I'll do that."

He continued: "I'm as vain as anybody else. One of my old friends, his mother said, 'I always knew he was talented, but when did he get so handsome?'"

Recently, the "Mandy" singer admitted that the criticism he faced early in his career about his looks sent him spiralling into "self-pity."

"It was as if I'd hurt somebody in their family," he told The Guardian in an interview published on May 25.

Barry said he was often criticized for his looks

"It lasted for so long – from putting me down for the songs, and then putting me down for what I looked like. If you wanted to get a big laugh, you would mention my name. It was 15 years of relentless, horrible reviews."

He added: "I would stupidly read some of this stuff, and I would go into my self-pity, and I'd pull the covers over my head. And then I would get dressed and go to the sound check, and that was that. Because I didn't agree with them."

Barry's admission comes after he underwent surgery after he revealed in December that he had been diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer, after battling six weeks of bronchitis.

"As many of you know, I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks," Barry shared in late 2025. "Even though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI to make sure that everything was OK."

However, the MRI discovered a cancerous spot on his left lung that needed to be removed. It was found early, which Barry called "good news," sharing that "the doctors do not believe it has spread and I’m taking tests to confirm their diagnosis."

The legendary singer spent seven days in the hospital after the surgery, which removed one of his left lung's two lobes, and had to reschedule a string of arena concerts.

The cancer and subsequent surgery saw his weight fall to under 130lbs, and it has also taken a toll on his voice. He revealed that although he was "using the treadmill three times a day," his doctor had advised that his "body isn't ready" to perform a 90-minute set.
