Jennifer Lopez is one proud mom after revealing the "struggles" her twins, Max and Emme, faced ahead of their high school graduation.

The 56-year-old opened up about how the 18-year-olds both have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), which is a developmental disorder marked by persistent symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, according to the National Institute of Mental Health.

Jennifer revealed that because of their diagnosis, both Max and Emme "learn differently and there were struggles at times," but they both received scholarships to the college of their choice.

"I'm so proud that they set goals for themselves. They all got into all five colleges that they applied to. Each one got a scholarship to a school," she gushed during an interview with Extra published on Tuesday, June 2.

"And I just felt like they worked so hard. I watched how hard they worked — from the time that they were like, you know, when school gets serious in the fifth grade — they just worked hard, worked hard."

She continued: "I'm just so proud of them because they did what they said they were going to do. They are good people. They are loving, good-hearted people.

"And they always said that. I would say to them, 'What do I say?' They say, 'Doesn't matter if we get good grades so long as we are good people.' I was like, 'That is right.' And they still sometimes will quote that back to me. So I'm very, very proud of both of them."

Last month, Jennifer revealed that Max and Emme will be attending different colleges in the fall during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on May 27.

"I mean, it's fine," she said of their decision to split up. "I want them to be happy, she added. "Go where they want to go, do what they want to do."

She added that she "absolutely" plans to move them into their dorm rooms, regardless of whether her appearance causes a commotion.

"We're going to pack up their rooms here, and they're going to take all the things that they want to take to their dorm," she explained.

"Then they're going to realize that their dorms are too small. They're going to miss home. I hope they want to come back real soon," she added.

Jennifer also admitted that it was only recently that it hit her that her twins will be flying the nest.

"I want them to go out there. I want them to do what they want to do. They have big dreams. They have things they want to do. It's going to be great," she said.

"And then, like two months ago, I had to write the thing for the yearbook or whatever the heck thing they make you write. When I tell you, the tears. Two days it took me to write those things," she added.

Jennifer shares Max and Emme with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony. Although the former couple separated in 2011, they have maintained a strong bond and continue to co-parent their children amicably.
