Savannah Guthrie appeared on the June 12 edition of the Today Show despite new developments emerging in her mother Nancy Guthrie’s missing person case.
The NBC star was joined by her co-stars Craig Melvin, Al Roker, and Carson Daly during the episode and appeared in bright spirits despite the latest news. Savannah wore a navy dress with a zip-up detail on the collar. Her blonde locks were left down in soft waves and her makeup was left natural and radiant enhanced with a bold red lip.
According to Mexican publication El Imparcial, a local collective received an anonymous tip on June 10 about the alleged location of Nancy's "grave", prompting a major search in the area known as Mariposa, near the Mexico-Arizona border.
In a statement posted to social media on June 11, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department penned: "We are aware of reports regarding an anonymous tip related to the Nancy Guthrie investigation that was provided to a group in Mexico. At this time, we have not been contacted by Mexican authorities."
"This investigation remains active and ongoing, and we will continue to follow up on any credible information."
Nancy was reported missing on February 1. The 84-year-old was last seen near her home in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday, January 31. The Pima County Sheriff Department suspects foul play, and revealed that she was likely taken from her home "against her will."
After more than two months off the air, Savannah returned to the Today Show on April 6. Savannah and Craig Melvin kept things brief for their intro, with Savannah simply saying that it's "good to be home."
Savannah opened up about her mother's disappearance to her co-star Jenna Bush-Hager on June 8th's Today Show. "I cry every morning on the way to work and I cry on the way home," she said as she fought back tears. "I'm grateful to have good friends, and to be able to come to such a beautiful and joyous place."
"I can't really look at you without crying. You are my best friend and it is really hard to come back and I've been trying so hard to hold it together. I promise I will," she added.
She told Jenna: "When I see you in the morning, I know you see me. No matter what. You are my family."
Savannah explained that her Today family are so supportive. "I don't think if I had another type of job I would have been able to come back," she said.
