Angelina Jolie graced the premiere of her upcoming film, Couture, in New York City on June 16. While all eyes were on her black viscose-silk Tom Ford dress, which featured a sweetheart neckline and elegantly draped fabric that exuded sleek tailoring, there was another detail that couldn't be seen but only sensed – one that played a key role in completing her look.

The actress's hairstylist, Renato Campora, styled her luscious locks into soft, cascading waves, with the voluminous blowout swept elegantly over the right side of her face. She debuted her lightest hair colour in years, blending honey-blonde tones with darker roots.

However, a key finishing touch was that Renato completed the look with Parfums de Marly's Valaya Hair Perfume and Valaya Eau de Parfum. Standard perfumes designed for the skin typically contain high levels of alcohol, which strip the natural oils from your hair. This can result in your locks feeling dry and more prone to breakage. And it's not just our strands that may be affected, synthetic fragrance ingredients can also irritate the scalp and cause sensitivity.

Fragrance also tends to linger longer on your hair than on your skin, as the strands provide a more porous surface that absorbs scent molecules more effectively. Perfume on the hair evaporates more slowly since hair doesn’t generate heat the way skin does.

Valaya combines delicate florals with soft musky and woody accords, creating a fragrance that feels both fresh and elegant. The scent opens with bright notes of bergamot, mandarin and white peach, before settling into a warm, sensual base of musk and Ambrofix.

"A modern interpretation of Veronica Lake glamour, this look was designed to complement the elegance of the dress with a deep side part and soft, face-framing waves. Volume was concentrated at the roots to create lift and movement while maintaining a refined, timeless silhouette," said Renato of Angelina's look in a press statement.

Hair perfumes

Angelina isn't the only celebrity to favor a hair perfume. Amal Clooney's hairstylist, Dimitris Giannetos, finished her blowout with Initio Parfums Privés Hair Perfume in Atomic Rose for the 83rd Golden Globes.

Meanwhile, for the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, the international human rights lawyers scented her locks with a spritz of Parfums de Marly’s Delina Hair Perfume. Delina is infused with a floral scent that has a heart of feminine rose and a base of cashmere wood essence. It is tinged with tangy notes of lychee, rhubarb and bergamot and layered with white musk.
