Beyoncé and Jay-Z have delighted fans with the release of a new behind-the-scenes family video.
Released on Father's Day on June 21, the award-winning singer offered a closer look at her husband's recent hair transformation in a seven-minute video titled "The Blueprint," posted on Cécred's YouTube channel.
The sweet footage focused on Jay-Z's hair journey as Beyoncé, Blue Ivy, Tina Knowles and other family members and friends helped comb out the star's signature dreadlocks, all while using Cécred hair products.
The video featured several throwback clips of Jay-Z with his family, including never-before-seen footage with his nine-year-old son, Sir.
Unlike his sisters, the Carter's only son prefers to keep out of the spotlight, but clips included one of him on the beach with his dad, and another of Jay-Z holding Sir and Rumi as toddlers.
Other clips included Blue and Rumi dancing at Jay-Z's recent Philadelphia concert, where he headlined the first night of the 2026 Roots Picnic on May 30.
Narrated by Beyoncé, the video also revealed why Jay decided to grow his hair in the first place - with their oldest daughter, Blue, behind the decision.
Beyoncé explained that Blue didn't feel confident about her hair when she was a little girl, and so Jay decided to grow his so that she could see that they had the same hair.
"I thought it was always beautiful that the real reason Jay grew out his hair was to show Blue that her hair was like this," Beyoncé said. "Our daughter was about five, and she wasn't feeling very confident about her hair at that time. When she told her father that, it inspired Jay to grow out his hair. We really wanted her to love and embrace every inch of her gorgeous curls."
And the reason behind Jay's new look? "Everyone wants to know the details of Jay's hair transformation. Jay told me a few months ago he was planning on combing out his locs for the Philly show with The Roots. He wanted to do this in honor of his father," Beyoncé said at the start of the footage. Jay's dad, Adnis Reeves, sported an afro and had Philadelphia roots.
The process took six days in total, with the Grammy-winning saying: "I think the key ingredients are patience and love. It wasn't just one person who removed his locs. It was a family affair."
The clip ended with Jay performing in Philadelphia to a full crowd, including Beyoncé, Blue, Rumi and Tina.
