Jason Momoa just revealed the unexpected body transformation he went through for Supergirl. The 46-year-old stars as Lobo in the upcoming superhero film and revealed what he wouldn't do for the role.

For Supergirl, which premieres on Friday, June 26, Jason wore prosthetics for his character's outrageous upper body because there was "no way" he could get as big as the alien bounty hunter who crosses paths with the young superhero, played by Milly Alcock.

"I don't want to walk around like that, I can't fit in a suit, can't even fit through a doorway. I'm big enough," he told Men's Journal. "But I want him to look that way. You want him to have that size."

It seems Jason's girlfriend, Adria Arjona, likes his new look. The couple attended the London premiere of Supergirl on Thursday, June 18 2026 alongside his children, Nakoa-Wolf, 17, and Lola, 18. Jason, who wore a black three-piece suit, and Adria, who stunned in a slinky red dress, put on a loved-up display as they shared a kiss on the blue carpet.

Jason Momoa's body transformations over the years

Supergirl isn't the first film Jason has transformed his body for. Throughout his career, the actor has starred as superheroes, kings, and warriors. And while he is naturally big – he stands at 6'4" – Jason has to really focus on his health.

The Dune star is very active. He rock climbs, spends hours in the gym, and maintains a healthy and realistic diet from rice, avocado, sardines, seaweed and eggs to biscuits and gravy, Hawaiian food, buttered spaghetti with caviar, and his daily "three Guinnesses."

Jason was elated to wear prosthetics for Lobo, telling Men's Journal: "I didn't have to do [expletive]!"

What was Jason Momoa's first acting role?

The actor made his first onscreen appearance in the revamped version of the classic action drama Baywatch, titled Baywatch: Hawaii, playing the role of Jason Ioane from 1999-2001. His earliest appearances as part of the cast saw him rocking a much shorter do and a wiry but still muscular frame, sporting a clean-shaven face and wind-swept hair.

But, he really broke out as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones. Jason stormed on screen as the king of the Dothraki, with long hair, a dark beard, and his signature toned body. Years after his character was killed off, Jason has kept the long hair.

Jason cherishes his hair, stating in a previous interview that his ex-wife, Lisa Bonet, was a big fan of his locks.

In a 2018 conversation with The Daily Telegraph, he stated: "My wife would leave me if I cut my hair so I just don’t cut my hair. I am not cutting my hair for a while, I will tell you that much."
