Adam Sandler contacted police less than two days after officiating the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce on July 3, in Madison Square Garden in front of 1,000 of their friends and family. The comedian reportedly traveled to his home state of New Hampshire for his Fourth of July celebrations, before moving on to Nantucket in Massachusetts on the Sunday.

According to the Nantucket Current, the 59-year-old contacted the local police department shortly after his arrival with an unusual request.

"Sandler said, 'Hey, I'm here on your island, and I like to play basketball. Can you tell me where there's a basketball court I could play on?'" recalled Chris Reynolds, the public safety dispatcher who picked up Adam's call.

Adam then made his way to a pickup game, where a group of locals were happy to let him join in the fun. One of the players, Andrew Kesler, told the publication that he fit right in with their team.

"Adam Sandler rolled in a car and started playing pick-ups with the boys," he said. "He's like, 'Guys, let me stretch, I'm going to hop in.'" He added: "Great passing and playmaking, decent lay-ups, hesitated to shoot the ball." Andrew shared that the actor was incredibly friendly and down-to-earth, and took photos with the group after their game.

Adam is a devoted basketball fan and was courtside for several New York Knicks games in 2026, including for their historic win against the San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden. It was here that he officiated Taylor and Travis' wedding on July 3.

"He told them to keep kissing," Andy recalled. "So, in its simplest form, that's a good thing. It's hard to argue when you give your wife a kiss, or your wife gives you a kiss. And make sure you do it every day, every minute that you have an opportunity to do it. Knock it out, and you won't have problems."

He added that Adam was "hysterical" and "did a great job in getting them married with a lot of humor."
