Kelly Ripa revealed the surprising person she believes inspired her daughter Lola Consuelos' impressive singing talent.
During the July 9 episode of LIVE!, Kelly and her husband, Mark Consuelos, interviewed Jim Parsons about his role in the Broadway musical Titaníque, which is inspired by the hit 1997 film Titanic that is set to the music by Céline Dion.
Kelly recalled a conversation she had shared with the "My Heart Will Go On" singer years ago when she appeared on Live With Regis and Kelly. "We had Céline Dion on this show, and I remember because my daughter was a baby," said Kelly. "And she was singing to my daughter as a baby."
The ABC host shared that Lola has grown up to pursue a career in music and believes Céline Dion was the inspiration behind her vocal talent. "I am convinced it’s because Céline blessed her. She sang it into her," said Kelly.
"I would not doubt she has the power to do that. In our show, she’s endowed with the power to bring us all back to life after we've died on the Titanic, so she could easily give your daughter the gift of voice," replied Jim.
Lola Consuelos' music career
Lola is currently pursuing a music career and her sound can be described as soulful, bluesy R&B with jazzy undertones due to her mature, husky vocals over smooth beats, with comparisons to artists like Amy Winehouse and SZA.
Kelly's daughter made her debut performance in London at The Lower Third, a multi-space music and cocktail venue on Denmark Street in Soho, back in December. The launch party celebrated her debut EP, "Sorry, It’s all about me". The night featured a performance from Lola, with a 6-track set of songs from her EP and a teaser to an upcoming single.
Kelly spoke to us about the show and how proud she felt of her daughter. "We are beside ourselves. She's been working so hard and her hard work paid off and guess what? We pulled off the ultimate surprise," she shared.
"She didn't know we were here and we wanted to wait until it was all over to surprise her. We didn't want to make her nervous."
Lola also spoke to us about her surprise over her parents' attendance. "I cried because I didn't know they were coming!" added Lola. "You saw my reaction!"
The budding musician previously opened up about using songwriting as a cathartic exercise. "Writing my thoughts down, big or small, has helped me immensely. For one, it gives your mind something else to do. Sometimes we keep things in our head, making it so much easier for our brain to rile us up, and send us into a bigger spiral, or even fight or flight mode. But saying it out loud and seeing it on a piece of paper can really help you make sense of what you’re feeling. Sometimes we need to fact-check our brains," she told Euphoria.
