Like father, like son – House of the Dragon star Fabien Frankel's father Mark Frankel was also an actor.

He welcomed Fabien in 1994 with his wife Caroline Besson. Although Fabien was only a toddler when Mark passed, the star left a lasting impact on his future aspirations.

Mark landed his first role when he was 10 years old, however, at the age of 16, he decided to give school all his focus instead.

At the age of 20, he studied at the Actors Studio in New York before heading to Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art on a full three-year scholarship.

During a performance at school, he was scouted by a talent agent and ended up being cast in A Season of Giants in 1989, which marked the start of his career.

Mark was mostly known for his starring role as Leon Geller in Leon the Pig Farmer and his role as Julian Luna in Kindred: The Embraced.

When Fabien was only two years old, his father tragically passed away at the age of 34 in 1996, from a traffic collision, while he was riding his motorcycle.

At the time, Caroline was pregnant with the couple's second child Max, whom she welcomed into the world after his death.

Prior to his death, Mark had been working on two projects, with the first being his portrayal of the character of Carlton Dial, on a series called Fortune Hunter, as well as his portrayal of the character of Antonio in Roseanna's Grave.

Fabien revealed to Variety that his father's successful career provided hope that he too can thrive in the art world.

He recalled: "It made it feel like not an impossibility, I suppose. I think for a lot of kids, it feels like a very distant thing."

Fabien grew up constantly going to the cinema with his mother and brother, and he believes that his mother doing so had a deeper meaning.

He expressed to The Glass Magazine: "I think probably, to some extent, she did it to honor my dad I guess subconsciously, it was something I'd always thought about doing because of my dad."

Although his mother was initially hesitant about his acting aspirations, as soon as he got accepted into drama school, she was his rock.

He studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art as well as the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

Since then, he's appeared in Last Christmas, NYPD Blue, The Serpent and more.

While Fabien was on the set of NYPD Blue, he met Minnie Driver, who revealed to him that she went to drama school with his dad.

He recalled to The Times just how significant that moment was to him, sharing: "At every important moment in my life someone from my dad's past has arrived…She hugged me and we spoke for 20 minutes about how she used to ride with dad on his motorcycle."
