Rob Reiner's eldest son, Jake Reiner, paid tribute to his late parents on social media on Tuesday, more than seven months after the director and his wife, Michele, were murdered in their home in Brentwood, California.

The pair were found dead on December 14, 2025, and their other son, Nick Reiner, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He has since pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial.

Jake and his younger sister, Romy Reiner, honored their late parents over the weekend by throwing the first pitch at the LA Dodgers game, following a long family history with the baseball team.

"The @dodgers have always been a huge part of our family," Jake wrote on Instagram of the sweet moment he shared with his sister.

"My dad and I could talk baseball for hours, and I truly never felt closer to him than when we'd watch games together. Dodger Stadium is a place we'd love to come to as a family."

"Romy and I wanted to honor our mom and dad by throwing out a ceremonial first pitch for each of them," he continued. "We're grateful the Dodgers helped make this moment so special."

The importance of baseball

The 35-year-old, who served as a junior broadcaster for the team in the past and hosted the Dodgers Incline podcast, opened up about how baseball played a huge part in his relationship with Rob.

"We loved the Dodgers more than anything. We went to so many damn games," he wrote in an April Substack piece. "I'll never go to Dodger Stadium again without feeling my dad's presence and hearing his voice tell me why Shohei Ohtani should never bat in the leadoff spot."

"When I was little, I would cry my eyes out when the Dodgers would lose a regular season game, and he'd say, 'Buddy, you have to realize, at some point, that there are 162 games. It's going to be alright,'" Jake continued.

"He took me on baseball trips every summer beginning when I was like 11 or 12, and eventually we made it to every ballpark around the majors."

Dealing with grief

In the personal piece, Jake went on to lament the lost time with his parents, and shared how difficult the grieving period had been for him and his family.

"I was robbed of so many things that day. My parents won't be at my wedding, they won't get to hold their future grandchild, and they won't get to see me have the successful career I'm still seeking. It simultaneously breaks my heart and enrages me," he wrote.

"Nothing can prepare you for what it feels like to lose both parents instantly at the same time. It's too devastating to comprehend. I still wake up every morning having to convince myself that, no, it's not a dream. This truly is my living nightmare."

Rob and Michele's family

Rob and Michele were married for 36 years and welcomed Jake in 1991, Nick in 1993 and Romy in 1997. Nick struggled with addiction throughout his life and went to rehab several times. If convicted of his parents' murders, he could face life in prison or even the death penalty.
