Hilaria Baldwin isn't afraid to take on the commentary about her relationship with Alec Baldwin.
The former yoga instructor was only 27 years old when she met the 30 Rock alum, who is 26 years her senior, in 2011, and they tied the knot the following year.
And though she recognizes the dubious optics of the age-gap relationship, she is pushing back on any "gold digger vibes" she might give off.
During an appearance on SiriusXM's PageSix Radio July 30, Hilaria, 42, recognized she was a "27-year-old yoga instructor" and Alec, 68, was "a rich and famous older man" when they met.
"I'm not that way," she however maintained of the "gold digger vibes" the dynamic could give off, noting: "From the beginning, he would always try to buy me things and I would be like, 'No, I don't want this.'"
"I was living in a small apartment, and any New Yorker knows that the temperature inside of an apartment is a little complicated, right?" Hilaria, who was born Hillary Lynn Hayward-Thomas in Boston, Massachusetts, continued. "I actually had a computer that didn't work very well and I would use it to heat my hands at night."
"I was like, 'I don't want you to buy me something because I want to know that I like you for you,'" she further shared about pushing back on accepting gifts from Alec in the early stages of their romance. "Because I don't want to be a prisoner either. It's two ways."
Hilaria and Alec are parents two seven children, Carmen Gabriela, 12, Rafael Thomas, 10, Leonardo Ángel, nine, Romeo Alejandro, eight, Eduardo "Edu" Pao, five, María Lucía, five, and Ilaria Catalina, two, and she further quipped that that's not "what gold diggers should do."
A successful gold digger, she teased, would "have one then get out. Don't have seven because they're very expensive."
Earlier this year, speaking with the DailyMail, Hilaria also addressed her age gap with Alec, joking: "Take a 27-year-old yoga instructor married to a rich and famous older man — it sounds ridiculous. It sounds like a bad SNL sketch."
The Dancing With The Stars alum nonetheless noted that her marriage to Alec "worked out, luckily," and moreover she and her husband "poke fun at each other in our family all the time."
"I think people expect that Alec wanted somebody he could boss around, and we're on the same level together," she added.
