New updates have emerged in the death of Hayden Panettiere, just hours after news broke that she had tragically passed.
The actress, who was just days shy of celebrating her 37th birthday, died of an apparent overdose per new reports, although further details have not yet been confirmed.
TMZ first cited an unnamed friend of the actress who called 911 for an "unresponsive female," later confirmed to be Hayden. HELLO! has reached out to Hayden's representative for a statement as well.
Further details from the publication as well as from People cite the use of breathing tubes and special medicine to revive the actress, to no avail. The call was placed around 1:50 PM local time, with Hayden pronounced dead at 2:32 PM, also citing a "cardiac arrest."
HELLO! has reached out to the Greenville Police Department for further confirmation, although they shared with People that an official cause of death will not be released until an autopsy is performed. A dispatch call shared by TMZ does include the use of terms "overdose" and "cardiac arrest."
While her rep alluded to that being the case as well, per the publication, there is no further confirmation on the matter so far.
The police department issued a statement to People first sharing some details from the scene. "Upon arrival, medical assistance was administered; however, the individual, later identified as Hayden Panettiere, was pronounced deceased at the scene."
"The case is under investigation by the Greenville Police Department in conjunction with the Greenville County Coroner’s Office. The preliminary investigation has not indicated any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances. An acquaintance of Ms. Panettiere placed the 911 call."
Hayden's representative told HELLO! of her death in a short statement that read: "It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden."
"An investigation is ongoing and cause of death has not yet been determined," the rep also shared with HELLO!.
Her father Skip also shared a personal statement as well, which read: "She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her, and to the millions who watched her onscreen. We ask for privacy as our family takes time to process this unimaginable loss."
The actress' career began as a child star on the soap opera One Life to Live, and followed into the show Guiding Light and then the hit Pixar movie A Bug's Life in 1998, when she was just eight years old.
She is best known for playing Claire Bennett in the superhero show Heroes and Juliette Barnes in the musical drama Nashville, plus film projects like Ice Princess (2005), Bring It On: All or Nothing (2006), and the Scream film series.
