Sheryl Crow is adjusting to a major change at home after her eldest son, Wyatt, officially headed off to college.

The 64-year-old singer shared a rare new photo with her 19-year-old son on Instagram after dropping him off, alongside a throwback image that showed just how quickly the years have passed.

"I can't believe I just took this baby to college. Where does the time go?" Sheryl wrote.

The recent photograph showed mother and son smiling together with the ocean behind them. Wyatt towered over his famous mom as he wrapped an arm around her, while Sheryl looked relaxed in white denim shorts and a chambray shirt featuring a colorful sunset motif.

She paired the poignant update with a sweet photograph from Wyatt's childhood, showing the youngster wearing oversized headphones as he danced onstage beside his mom during one of her performances.

"For any parent who just went through this, I know how you are feeling!" Sheryl continued. "So proud of the young man he has become, and sure am missing him around here!"

The Grammy-winning musician adopted Wyatt in 2007 and welcomed her younger son, Levi, through adoption in 2010.

Sheryl has largely raised her boys away from the Hollywood spotlight, settling with her family in Nashville, Tennessee, and has previously spoken about prioritizing motherhood over the demands of her career.

While both of her sons have inherited an appreciation for music, Sheryl revealed that Wyatt has another career in mind.

"I don't know that either one of them really wants to do that, but they're both musical, and I'm one of those obnoxious parents who's like, 'You have to take piano. Do not argue with me about it,'" she told People in 2023.

Wyatt, she revealed, has a "great ear" and is a talented musician, but his real passion lies far away from the stage.

"I think he will always tinker, but he wants to be a marine biologist," she explained. "So I'm happy for him to go save the reefs. That's what he wants to do."

Sheryl Crow on raising musical children

Despite her sons having their own ambitions, Sheryl has made sure their musical education extends well beyond their mom's own impressive back catalogue.

The "If It Makes You Happy" singer revealed she had been introducing Wyatt and Levi to the Motown classics she loves, although her choices weren't always initially appreciated.

"They're just like, 'Mom, what is this old music?'" she joked.

However, it appears Sheryl's persistence has paid off, as she admitted the songs inevitably get stuck in their heads. "But they go around humming it and singing it," she said, adding of Wyatt: "He's always like, 'I got sunshine…' So, I feel like I'm doing the right thing."
