Kurt Russell has had a summer to remember!
The Hollywood star had not long been back in the US after traveling around Europe with Goldie Hawn and their family, before getting on a plane again - albeit a little closer to home.
Kurt reunited with his Backdraft co-stars for a special 12th anniversary dinner in Chicago, 35 years after the film was made.
The star appeared in several reunion pictures posted on his co-star William Baldwin's Instagram account. The joyful dinner took place during Fan Fest Chicago, and after his co-star posted the pictures, Kurt replied: "No fun was had," alongside a crying-with-laughter emoji.
William captioned the images - also featuring co-stars Keith David, John Aldridge and Scott Glenn - : "On the road doing Fan Fest Chicago with Kurt Russell, Mel Gibson, Sean Astin, Elijah Wood, Joe Pantoliano, Ron Perelman, Pauly Shore, Martha Plimpton and about 50 others. 75,000 people dressed up like Star Trek, Star Wars, Walking Dead, Stranger Things, Lord of the Rings... so wild."
The actor added: "Had our 12th Backdraft reunion dinner in Chicago with all the firefighters that worked on the film as actors, technical advisors and safety instructors. Steve Chikerotis, Billy Cosgrove, Rishar Lexie, Cedric Young, Kevin Casey and honorary Backdraft cast member and #1 host and [restaurateur] in Chicago... my dear friend Donny Greco and my other dearest friend... his wife Alison Greco. All with their spouses and some family members. Had the wife of Chief Stan Span, Barb Span their daughter Sue, Anji Ramirez... wife of actor Juan Ramirez and their daughter Mia with us again this year."
"Both Stan and Juan passed away since the last time we had this dinner two years ago so it was extra special to have both a Backdraft reunion dinner and a celebration of life for both Juan and Chief Span at the same time.
"Wonderful surprise to have Kevin Casey back with us again and absolutely terrific to have Kurt Russell there bouncing from one end of the table to the other telling story after story after story about life, Hollywood and the making of Backdraft 35 years ago... as if we wrapped only a week ago. Had us mesmerized with his stories and in stitches laughing from moment to moment."
He ended his message by writing: "Life is a blessing. Cherish these moments. So grateful for these friends and our special connection. And it all begins and ends with the heroes of the Chicago Fire Department and all first responders!! The Fightin' 17th!!!!!"
The 1991 film followed brothers Stephen and Brian McCaffey (played by Kurt and William), who were both Chicago firefighters, battling backdraft fires before Brian joins an arson investigator (played by Robert De Niro) to track down the person behind them.
