Firefly star Nathan Fillion has become a resident of the superhero genre, but away from the big screen he prefers to keep things pretty private. The exception comes in the star's readiness to celebrate those closest to him, particularly his older brother Jeff who's reportedly the charmer of the pair. A bit of a charmer
The Castle actor might prefer to keep his private life out of the public eye, but he isn't hesitant to offer praise to his older brother, who works as a high school principal in Canada. In a 2009 interview, Nathan said, "I endeavour to be more like my older brother".
He explained: "[Jeff is] very magnetic. He's actually very much like [Richard] Castle in that people are attracted to him, and just want to be near him. You want to know where my brother is in a crowded room? He's the guy with the crowd around him. He's incredibly talented, incredibly patient, incredibly kind and people just like him."

His greatest influence
Nathan is also quick to publicly celebrate his family on special occasions, like Canada's National Sibling Day in 2020. He posted a snapshot of the two, writing: "I'm a little late, but in honor of Canada's National Sibling Day, I'd like to introduce my brother, Jeff. To say he has influenced me is an understatement."
He continued: "To say I admire him is an understatement. To say he has an unusual number of nicknames for me is an understatement. I cannot say enough about how proud I am of what he's accomplished. Thank you, Jeff. I endeavor to be more like you all the time."

Celebrating his family
It's not just a celebration of his brother that has Nathan getting emotional about family life. He wrote in 2022: "We don't choose our family, but if we could, I would choose them. Of all the influences in my life, these men have influenced me the most, and I couldn't be more proud."
Nathan and Jeff were brought up by two school teachers, Bob and Cookie, with Jeff following in his parents' footsteps while Nathan pursued a career in acting.

Nathan's love life
The Rookie star's first high-profile relationship was with the Entourage actress Perrey Reeves. The pair started dating in 2005 and amicably ended their relationship in 2009, with the reason for their split unknown.
His next long-term relationship was with Days of our Lives actress Krista Allen. Their five-year relationship came to an end in 2020; the actor has never publicly addressed the cause of the split. Since 2025, Nathan has been dating Tania Raymonde. The couple first went public on July 7, 2025, when they walked the red carpet together at the world premiere of Superman and have been pictured on numerous occasions since.

What's he doing now?
The Castle star has played leading man John Nolan in 144 episodes of The Rookie to date, appearing as the titular 'rookie' who has to prove his later-in-life decision to join the LAPD isn't an identity crisis.
He's recently worked on Lanterns as Guy Gardner and is set to appear in Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow.
