Christina Aguilera was a proud mom as she shared a rare photo of her daughter, Summer, amid a carousel of snaps from her vacation.

The "Genie in a Bottle" singer looked laid back as she sported an American flag T-shirt and black jeans while leaning on the hood of an old car. Summer sat behind her on the car, dressed in blue jeans and a black top, as she wrapped her arms around her mother and smiled widely.

Summer looked so grown up, with her choppy brunette locks, bangs and casual-cool style.

"Summerween," Christina captioned the photos, which included a picture of her hugging her fiancé and Summer's dad, Matt Rutler, and another snap of him kissing her on the cheek as they exited a private plane.

The 45-year-old welcomed Summer with Matt in 2014, and welcomed her eldest, Max, with her ex-husband, Jordan Bratman, in 2008. Christina previously revealed that she and Matt chose the name Summer Rain for their daughter to imbue joy in her.

"Summer is a time of spreading warmth and light, while rain washes away...replenishes and brings new life to allow growth and new beginnings," she told People. "I wanted her name to be filled with inspiration, love and joy. And that's exactly what she brings to all who encounter her. Her beauty and sunshine exude from within."

Parenting in the spotlight

The popstar opened up about the highs and lows of parenting on The Jennifer Hudson Show, revealing that she had to learn patience after becoming a mother. "It's tough with kids in general," she said. "They will call you out for anything and everything. And I'm like, 'I've lived through some things, too!'"

"For sure they keep you humbled, but you do learn through their eyes also and [motherhood] teaches you patience, too," she continued.

Summer is passionate about the arts and acting

Christina added that Summer was following in her footsteps and showing a passion for the arts. "She's such an artist; she paints, she draws, she makes beautiful masks, and she's just so creative, but she's definitely her own thing."

"And I never want to push anything on my kids; whatever they're passionate about, I'm there to support it, but she has taken an interest in acting, so she's had a few lessons," the mom of two said.

Christina opened up about protecting her children from the spotlight

Christina endured a tough childhood and lived in an abusive household until she was around seven years old. Growing up in the spotlight also had a major impact on the singer, and she is careful to protect her children from the darker side of fame.

"I've seen so much so young," she told Glamour. "You just want the best for your kids."

"I love my son and my daughter so much, and you do want to shield and protect them from the world. But they have to learn their own lessons. They're going to make their own choices and mistakes that define how they want to be."
