What is Derek Hough's workout routine?
Regardless of Derek's busy schedule, the performer makes sure to get in regular workouts.
The entertainer loves mixing up his five-times-a-week workouts, which switch up between hot yoga sculpt, strength training, yoga, boxing, swimming, as well as running or hiking through the woods.
Aside from the physical results from working out, Derek finds immense satisfaction in using fitness as a way to energize himself for his full life.
Derek shared with Country Living: "There is this time I call NET Time — No Extra Time. You find these little pockets, these windows when you can give yourself something. We often associate working out or fitness with 'oh dang, I have to go workout,' but working out gives you energy, it gives you something."
He continued: "I think we can change that association to 'I get to give myself something, I'm giving myself some energy.' And you know, motion equals emotion, the way you move directly affects the way you feel. You get your body moving, your heart rate is up, and you're feeling good."
The entertainer's top priority is maintaining his health because he strongly believes that when you pour into yourself, it helps you pour into others.
Derek expressed: "Health and vitality is number one. We set all these different types of goals and priorities, and your health starts to come down a little on the list. If your number one thing is your health, your vitality, your strength, your energy, then everything benefits."
He continued: "I just want to stay on top of that and take care of myself so I can be the best dad, the best husband, and the best co-worker. Something else I want to work on is presence. Especially being a new dad, I have a lot of projects, I have a tour coming up and shows. It's important for me to maintain my presence."
