Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos share first photos of new family member after health scare: 'Welcome home'

After a stressful process, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos were finally able to bring their new puppy home. The ABC stars took to Instagram to share a series of Stories that captured them welcoming their new fur baby into their abode.

The first post captured a video of the couple cradling their Shih Tzu mix pup named Javi from their front door. The following picture shows Mark holding the dog inside the house while smiling. The couple also documented introducing Javi to their dog Lena. "When Javi met Lena part 2," Kelly penned over the image.

The couple officially confirmed on the October 13 episode of Live! that they were adopting Javi, the puppy who visited the show earlier in the week for the show's annual Adopt a Dog segment. "We have news! We adopted Javi yesterday," shared Mark during the opening of the show. "We have a new baby!" added Kelly of their new puppy. However, at the time, the dog was yet to move into the couple's home as he was awaiting medical tests.

Unfortunately, Javi's trip home was delayed following the examination. "We don't have him yet because he had a little bit of [a] health issue," Kelly explained to People at the Broadway opening night for Other Desert Cities over the weekend.

Mark confirmed that it was a "parasite," adding: "So they're treating it and then he's going to come," noting that Javi is set to come home "any day now."

The couple reside in a $27 million townhouse on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Kelly and Mark purchased the lavish abode 12 years ago and transformed it into a modern living space with notes of French and Old Hollywood glamor inspired by the film Mommie Dearest.

Kelly called her home her "favourite place on earth" during an interview with Architectural Digest. "We’ve moved several times in our lives, but no matter where we go, for me, this is my forever home," she shared. "When I walked in here, I was like, 'This is the final place where I will live.' I love this house so much." She continued: "I don’t want to sound morbid but they’ll have to carry me out of here feet first because I have gotten good and comfortable in this house."

Kelly and Mark tied the knot in 1996, when they eloped in Las Vegas a year after meeting on the set of the soap opera All My Children. They went on to welcome three kids – Michael, Lola, and Joaquin.
