Melissa McCarthy looked so different as she debuted her new look for the upcoming Netflix limited series, The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey, in which she portrays Patsy Ramsey.
The star transformed into the late matriarch in a photo shared by Netflix, which saw her and Clive Owen, who plays John Ramsey, seated in front of a sea of cameras.
Melissa wore a black skirt suit in the photo paired with black flats, and swapped her brunette locks for an '80s-style wig.
"Two Oscar-nominated actors. One of the most consequential cases in American memory. Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen as Patsy and John Ramsey in THE MURDER OF JONBENÉT RAMSEY. December 10," the caption of the photo read, prompting a sea of fans to comment on Melissa's jaw-dropping new look.
"Good lord, give the costume designer and wig team a raise, because that look is so spot on I GASPED," one fan wrote, while another added: "She really looks like Patsy!" and a third said: "You nailed the hair!"
Another chimed in: "She looks exactly like Patsy, down to her expression!" while a fifth declared: "I thought that was really Patsy."
The case behind it all
© Denver Post via Getty ImagesMelissa's show will follow the murder of six-year-old pageant queen JonBenét Ramsey, who was found strangled in the basement of her home on December 26, 1996. She had been reported missing by her family earlier that morning after Patsy found a ransom note inside the home in Boulder, Colorado, and her body was found later that day.
While John and Patsy came under intense scrutiny in the months following her murder, as they were in the house when it occurred, they were never charged with any crime and were formally cleared of any wrongdoing in 2008.
According to the official synopsis, "the series centers on one of the most infamous unsolved murder cases in American history, and the devastating personal and public reckoning that followed the death of JonBenet Ramsey on Christmas night in 1996."
The cast will also include Emily Mitchell as JonBenét, Angus Caldwell as her brother Burke, Garrett Hedlund, Alison Pill, Owen Teague, Shea Whigham and Clifton Collins Jr.
Stepping into Patsy's shoes

"It's been quite a challenge," she told Entertainment Tonight, before adding, "That poor family…my heart goes out to them."

"I'm hoping we're giving [the family] their humanity, as well as telling the story, because when you go back through it, we all lived through it. But when you rewatch it, you're like, 'Oh, I was part of that.'"
"I'm really proud of the show. It's strangely been rewarding and challenging at the same time," she concluded. Patsy passed away from ovarian cancer in 2006 at the age of 49, while John continues to advocate for police to utilize new DNA technology to find the killer.
