Elon Musk's model mother, Maye Musk, proved that age was just a number as she stepped out in a stunning gray pantsuit on Wednesday that showcased her svelte figure.
The 78-year-old looked better than ever as she sat down on CBS Mornings to discuss her new book, Timeless. Maye paired the pantsuit with a deep red shirt and chunky gold earrings, and wore her white hair slicked back in a stylish wave.
© CBS MorningsThe mother of three's fans were shocked by her ageless appearance and took to Instagram to share the love. "Gorgeous lady!" one fan wrote, while another added: "Wow!"
A third chimed in: "Beautiful," while another said: "Such a lovely lady." Maye is the mother of Elon, the world's richest man, and his siblings, Tosca and Kimbal Musk. She welcomed them with South African businessman Errol Musk, before divorcing him in 1979.
Aging in the spotlight
© CBS MorningsMaye has been vocal about aging in the spotlight, and shared in her memoir that her life changed completely when she reached her middle age. "I bloomed so late that most of the things I'm known for didn't happen until after I turned 50," she wrote, referring to her modeling career.
"And at 74 – white hair, wrinkles, life experience, and all – I became the oldest cover model in Sports Illustrated history. I still smile thinking about it."
She added that it had taken time to overcome the insecurities she had about her body. "What was I so afraid of? Men never worry about their wrinkles; they add gravitas. Overweight men still walk proudly in their little speedos," Maye explained.
"Women gain five pounds, and we hide behind our towels. All those years of indoctrination from agents and the industry – it was time to throw all that nonsense out. I would walk proudly and show the world how happy and healthy I was in my swimsuit, and my 70-plus-year-old body."
Defending Elon
© AFP via Getty ImagesMaye is incredibly close with her son Elon, and claimed on CBS Mornings on Wednesday that the trillionaire "just wants to do good in the world, but that means you stand on a lot of toes."
"People are mean. And they're strangers, or they're not accomplished themselves, and then they can do insults," she continued. "It makes me angry."
© WireImage"He does whatever is best for America and what's best for the world. And then, if we don't listen, then let's go to Mars," Maye added. The Canadian-born star came to Elon's defence again in an interview with The Telegraph, sharing that she hated seeing him receive online hate.
"It's horrible…it's just dishonest…and then he gets death threats. That's horrifying. You don't want that [for] your kids," she said. "When you see someone you love being treated like that, even if your politics diverge, it's terribly upsetting."
