Sissy Spacek, 76, became an icon 50 years ago when she starred as Carrie in the 1976 horror film.
The actress's portrayal of the vengeful high school student bullied by her classmates earned her an Academy Award nomination – she went on to win an Oscar for her role in Coal Miner's Daughter. Half a century later, Carrie is still in the cultural lexicon. A miniseries adaptation of the Stephen King novel premiered on Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
While Sissy doesn't appear in the show, she continues to act. The star recently appeared in Die My Love alongside Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson. But, what she enjoys most is her quiet life on her ranch in Virginia with her husband, Jack Fisk, her two children, and grandchildren.

Schuyler Fisk, 44
Sissy married husband Jack in 1974 after meeting him on the set of Badlands. The couple welcomed their first child, Schuyler Fisk, on July 8, 1982. Sissy, Jack, and their daughter quickly left Los Angeles to live on a horse farm in Virginia. The decision to leave Hollywood was not something Schuyler enjoyed.
"I wanted to be in the mix of everything, and I told them," Sissy's oldest told People in 2022. "They love to make fun of me now that when I was 6 I told them they were ruining my career because we weren't living in Los Angeles."

Schuyler is an actress like her mom
It turns out that living in Virginia didn't ruin Schuyler's career. In 1995, she broke through as Kristy Thomas in The Baby-Sitters Club. A few years later, she starred in the comedy Orange County alongside Colin Hanks. And in 2022, Schuyler worked with her mom on a film called Sam & Kate.
"There wasn't really a moment where I'm like, 'I want to be an actor and musician.' It just was obvious, I guess. I threw myself into it," she told People. "There was a moment when I decided to graduate high school a year early and asked them, 'I'm going to move to L.A., okay?'"

Inside Schuyler's family life
Schuyler tied the knot with musician Colin Killalea, who has performed with Vampire Weekend, in 2017. The couple are parents to two children, who they keep out of the spotlight, but who spend a lot of time with their famous grandmother.
"I have grandchildren now," Sissy told Esquire in May 2022. "It's the greatest thing that I've experienced. I'm very content … I think contentment is what we need and just to be. I spend a lot of time with my family and then work every so often."

Madison Fisk, 38
Six years after they welcomed Schuyler, Sissy gave birth to daughter Madison Fisk on September 21, 1988 in Virginia. Her big sister reflected on that special day to Instagram in 2018, writing: "I remember getting picked up from school early that day because my little sister was coming! I remember feeling like she was MY baby because I was the one who had wished for her for so long on the first star I saw every single night."

Madison is an artist
Sissy's youngest didn't follow in her footsteps, instead she took after her dad. Madison studied painting and video art at California Institute of the Arts and sculpture at Virginia Commonwealth University. Professionally, she goes by "VM" and is an interdisciplinary artist who uses her art practice as a way to investigate and process her experiences living with neurodivergency, per her website.
