Breaking Bad star RJ Mitte's ex-girlfriend, Saint Sasha, has broken her silence in the wake of his death on Monday. The 34-year-old actor, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at three years old and spent his adult years advocating for disabled people, died by suicide on October 12 in Brownsville, Texas.
Saint Sasha, a photographer, took to Instagram on Tuesday to reflect on her past romance with RJ, whom she dated when she was 18. "I fell in love for the first time when I was 18. RJ was the first person to show me how a man is supposed to treat a woman," she wrote in the caption, alongside a sweet photo of the pair as teens.
"He was the first partner to build me up and make me feel unstoppable. He had one of the kindest and rarest hearts I'd ever had the privilege to experience, and he was still a friend. I can't believe this is real."
"Never in any lifetime could I forget him and how he made me feel. He was the first and last of his kind," she added. "Thank you for everything, endlessly, RJ. I love you, homie."
RJ's longtime love
RJ, who was born in Mississippi, is survived by his fiancée, Kennedy Suarez, whom he began dating in 2020 after being friends for a decade. The couple got engaged on October 10, 2025, and she took to social media to share the happy news at the time.
"My 30th felt like a fairytale…I have the man of my dreams by my side & we are doing what we love most – helping others," she wrote.
RJ shared with People that Kennedy was his "everything" after popping the question. "I'm thrilled to have found my person, my partner in life who makes me want to be better, no matter what we're doing," he said.
"Kennedy is my everything, and I can't wait to officially start our life together and see what adventures life takes us on next." The actor delved deeper into their relationship in an Instagram post following the romantic proposal.
"I've been grateful for all the love and kindness I have been given over the years, but Kennedy has been the greatest unconditional love no matter what we are going through, no matter what we are facing-type love, and we face it all together," he wrote.
"I will never stop lifting her up like she has for me and can't wait for our future."
Living with cerebral palsy
RJ was best known for portraying the son of Walter White, Walter Hartwell White Jr. – also known as Flynn – on Breaking Bad, between 2008 and 2013.
He worked as a disability advocate for several years, including for the Screen Actors Guild, and was an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy.
Cerebral palsy is a group of conditions that affect movement, muscle tone and coordination, and are caused by abnormal brain development or damage to the developing brain, typically before birth or in the first years of life.
