Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon are big fans of making their work a family affair!
Kyra, 60, and Kevin, 67, who have been married since 1988, have been working together for much of their married life, and that is now extending to their two kids as well.
The couple will star in the upcoming horror-comedy Family Movie with their two kids, Sosie and Travis Bacon. Both Sosie, 34, and Travis, 37, are already experienced entertainment industry pros, but spending time with them as "colleagues" rather than "children" proved to be quite the dynamic shift.
"It's a great movie," Kyra shared during an appearance on the Third Hour of TODAY on June 4. Of working with her two kids, she had nothing but gushing praise. "It was amazing, it was incredible!"
"It's so rare that you get to see your adult children in the world in a work situation," she remarked, then quipping: "First of all, I can't believe that they actually said yes, that they wanted to do the movie!"
When anchor Craig Melvin joked that it'd be hard to say no to their parents, Kyra joked back: "Uh, they can definitely say no to mom and dad! And also, they're in their 30s, so they can do anything."
She continued: "It's extraordinary to see them be good colleagues and really good actors and it was super fun," noting that the movie, which premiered at SXSW in March, will be out in theaters either this October or in February 2027.
Previously, the Closer star directed her husband in the film Space Oddity, which premiered at the TriBeCa Film Festival in 2022, which Travis also happened to score. And speaking exclusively with HELLO! at the premiere, Kyra revealed what makes working together as a family so satisfying.
"It's a little nepotism, but it's always worth it," she shared with us. "They're amazing at what they do, and they know my brain. So it's nice."
Space Oddity was the third time Kyra got to direct her Footloose star husband, and she gushed: "It's always easy. He's a great actor, not much to tell him, you know, little tweaks here and there."
Kevin himself told us that he always considered it "a good sign" when he received specific tips from his wife on how to improve his craft, and being able to act on them as well. "They support us and we support them," he said of working with their kids. "We all work together in different kinds of capacities."
Kyra also told The Hollywood Reporter recently of the "sublime" experience: "It's always been easy, but it's been shockingly wonderful. The whole time we were shooting, we kept going, 'God, this is just so great. This is so great.' When we were in prep and as soon as we were all four of us together on site, it was better than I could have imagined."
