Amal Clooney stole the spotlight on Sunday night when she stepped out in New York City with her husband, George Clooney, for a reading of Smear alongside Adam Scott, Betty Gilpin, Laverne Cox, Glenn Fleshler and Shane Paul McGhie.

The 48-year-old looked incredible in a cream-colored minidress on the night, paired with over-the-knee black boots and a tan-colored suede jacket that fell to the tops of her thighs.

The pair were in NYC for a reading of Smear, a political comedy penned by Clark Gregg, with the aim of raising money for The States Project and The States Forum.

George and Amal looked picture perfect on their glamorous date night, just weeks after they co-hosted the Albies gala in London. During the event, the couple shared a tender moment on the red carpet when asked what the secret to their long-lasting romance was.

"If you choose the most incredible person, then it all goes well from there," Amal told People, before George chimed in: "She looked at me. She was talking about herself, of course…No, we're just… We feel very lucky, very happy to have found each other."

George and Amal met through a mutual friend in 2013, and tied the knot the following year before welcoming their twins, Alexander and Ella, in 2017.

The human rights lawyer got candid about her relationship with George and how they grew even closer after becoming parents.

"I have a partner in life who is so supportive of what I do," Amal told Glamour. "So I don't feel like I have to apologize for it or rein it in."

"I remember when I became a mom, which was obviously a new frontier, he was the first one to say, 'I know you've got this speech at the Security Council. You have to go, I've got the kids, don't worry about it," she recalled.

"I feel so incredibly lucky to share every day with him. And now we're four. And I don't take any of it for granted. I treasure the laughter and the joy that I get from just being with them."

The mother of two added that her family was her "greatest joy" and provided some much-needed balance in her life.

The family of four live in the south of France on a wine estate, and are raising their kids far away from the glitz and glamour of the US. Alexander and Ella are trilingual and can fluently speak English, Italian and French.

George joked on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that he had accidentally "armed" his children with languages that he had no knowledge of. "I'll say, 'Alright, go back in and clean up your room,' and they're like, 'Eh, papa stranzo,'" he said. "I'm from Kentucky, English is a second language for me."
