Designer dating: Celebrity courts couture on fashion's big night

08 MAY 2012 The electrifying synergy of celebrities and their dashing designer dates is one of the hallmarks of the Met Ball.

It’s not often that the creatives behind the couture get their chance to shine on red carpet.






But fashion’s big night provides a chance to turn the tables and this year’s pairings didn’t disappoint.

Taking the accolade for the night’s most devastatingly attractive couple were Rooney Mara and gothic mastermind, Riccardo Tisci, pictured above.

Givenchy’s creative director recently told Grazia that he and his label were “obsessed with her” – and their electrifying union certainly thrilled crowds.



Contrasting their smouldering look was fashion maven Sarah Jessica Parker, who played vintage princess to Valentino on the night.

Meanwhile, all-girl teams also made their mark, with Stella McCartney flanked by rapper M.I.A and Hollywood star Cameron Diaz.
