Britney Spears has bid farewell to the man who discovered her, just as she formalised her marriage to Kevin Federline.

It was announced on Thursday that the chanteuse had parted company with Larry Rudolph, the man who has guided her career since she was 13 years old. Her longtime manager issued a statement saying he and his client had "mutually agreed not to renew their nine-year management relationship".

The chart-topping diva meanwhile scotched reports the pair had a falling our over her pre-nup with Kevin. "We had a great run and I appreciate all of Larry's guidance over the years," she said. "I wish him all the best."

Rudolph is credited with making the 22-year-old one of the most successful singers of recent times. Since Baby One More Time took the singles charts by storm back in 1999, the two have managed to sell over 60 million albums together. All eyes will now be on Britney, to see how she fares without the pop svengali to help her.

News of the split came on the same day the performer filed her marriage licence with authorities in California. Doubt had been cast on the legitimacy of her recent nuptials after it was discovered she and Kevin had failed to submit the proper paperwork. But the newlyweds have now quashed any suggestion they are not husband and wife. "It's all legal," said her spokeswoman.
