2016 is shaping up to be an incredible year for Brie Larson. The Oscar-winning actress is engaged to boyfriend Alex Greenwald after over three years of dating, a rep for the star has confirmed to HELLO!
Sources tell Us Weekly that Phantom Planet frontman Alex popped the question to Brie during a trip to Tokyo in March. Although the Room star is yet to publicly discuss her engagement, she did appear to be wearing a diamond engagement ring during her appearance on Saturday Night Live at the weekend.
Alex was a regular fixture by Brie's side throughout awards season, and was given a special mention as the 26-year-old accepted the Best Leading Actress Oscar for her performance in Room. After acknowledging her on-screen son Jacob Tremblay, Brie turned her attention to her "real-life partner", telling him: "Alex Greenwald. I love you, the whole thing!"
Brie is not shy about displaying her affection for Alex, and also said that he is her "best friend" during an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the SAG Awards.
"He's the other half of the equation – how can you explain support? I mean, it goes beyond anything. He's just my person, he's my best friend," Brie said.
The Trainwreck star gave her first public acknowledgement to her partner during her speech as she accepted the Best Actress award for Short Term 12 at the Gotham Independent Film Awards in 2013.
"I'd like to thank my boyfriend, Alex Greenwald, for making me pasta and taking care of our puppy while I made this movie," she said.
Brie has enjoyed a whirlwind start to the year so far, which has seen her take home awards at the Oscars, Golden Globes, BAFTAs and the SAGs, and land a leading role in the upcoming action-adventure film Kong: Skull Island, due for release in 2017.
