Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo were pictured celebrating with their close friends and family at an intimate London civil ceremony in April, ahead of their second wedding in Spain.

However, Made in Chelsea fans were shocked to see that one of Jamie's best friends Spencer Matthews was not among the guest list. At the time, Spencer was holidaying in Portugal with his wife Vogue Williams and their children Theodore, four, Gigi, two, and Otto, one – a trip that caused many to assume he had chosen to deliberately snub Jamie on his big day.

But it turns out Spencer, whom Jamie described as "one of my greatest friends in the whole world",  was "devastated" to find out he wasn't invited. Opening up about the real reason on Jamie and Sophie's NearlyWeds podcast, Jamie said: "I [expletive] up," adding that he wanted to make a public apology to him.

"Amongst the hectic-ness of getting people there and things like that, I thought Spen and Vogue were away.

"Spen got upset, understandably, I get it. I then sent Vogue a message hoping to get a bit of support and then she replied, 'To be honest Jamie, it's not good.'"

Vogue interjected: "He was really upset. I'd never seen him like that." Spencer confirmed that he would have loved to celebrate with Jamie, regardless of when or where his wedding took place. "To be honest, Jamie, like you're my best friend in the world. Which is why I think it hurt so much," he explained. "For your wedding, I would fly three times around the world to come to it because I care about you so much."

Jamie and Sophie got engaged in December 2021 and tied the knot at Chelsea Town Hall on Friday 14 April, and photos show the newlyweds being showered with petals as they emerged from the ceremony.
