David Tennant and his wife, Georgia, are famously private about their life behind the scenes, but on Wednesday, the pair shared a carousel of photos to celebrate a special milestone in their relationship.
"18 years [green tick emoji]," actress Georgia, 41, captioned a selfie of herself and her Rivals star husband, 55, at their London home to mark 18 years since they got together. Also featured in the carousel was a playful snap of Georgia and David in a lift, pulling funny faces, and a third taking a more posed selfie.
The Doctor Who actor and his wife, who is the daughter of the fifth Doctor, Peter Davison, met back in 2008 while filming the episode The Doctor's Daughter. In 2020, the couple appeared on That Gaby Roslin Podcast, where they opened up about the early days of their relationship.
The early days
"I very much forced it into happening, didn't I?" said Georgia. "I was very much the driving force. Had I not worked quite so hard, it might not have happened."
Her husband quipped in response: "That makes it sound like I was resistant, which was not what happened. I thought we were an unlikely life partnership, I suppose. There is a bit of an age gap."
He added: "Because Doctor Who had run through my life like a stick of rock, to end up marrying the daughter of one of the Doctors, it all felt a bit stupid... that wasn't really likely to happen. So there were a lot of things against it."
Tying the knot
The pair went on to tie the knot in 2011, with the bride stunning in an A-line gown and short veil. The marriage made David a stepfather to Georgia's son Ty, whom she welcomed in 2002 with a previous partner.
Upon their marriage, David adopted Ty, and the pair went on to welcome four more children together – Olive (born 2011), Wilfred (born 2013), Doris (born 2015), and Birdie (born 2019).
Both Olive and Ty are following their parents into acting. The couple's daughter has earned roles in Belfast from 2021, alongside Dame Judi Dench and Jamie Dornan, as well as in 2022's Avoidance and alongside both her parents in You, Me and Him in 2017.
Meanwhile, Ty has starred in House of the Dragon, Tolkien, War of the Worlds, and Good Omens, in which David plays a leading role.
