Theirs is one of Hollywood's most enduring romances. And, it's also one of the most mysterious given that Vanessa Paradis and the father of her two children, Johnny Depp rarely speak about each other. But now the beautiful French singer and actress, whom he still refers to as his girl 12 years after amour struck when they met in a hotel lobby, has opened up about their love story.

The secret of their longevity, she reveals in an interview with Marie Claire magazine, is not spending every waking minute together. She said: "The fact that we’re not together every day plays a big part in keeping our relationship stable. And then we also have a lot of respect and admiration for each other.

"We understand that, if we want our relationship to continue, we must give each other space, allow each other to go off on our own, and trust each other. Not everyone is lucky enough to be given space and trust."

And the 37-year-old says they rarely talk about work unless they're arranging their schedules to spend time together with their kids, 11-year-old Lily Rose and Jack, eight.

Asked what she loves about her 47-year-old partner, Vanessa replies: "I could make an endless list of all the things I admire about him, but above all I admire his immense loyalty. I love watching him when he’s thoughtful or involved in something.

I love observing him when he is talking to people. I love seeing how he deals with situations… I could go on and on, tell you I admire him as an actor, as a father and as the man he is for me."
