Michaela Strachan breaks cover hours after unexpected BBC axe

The British TV presenter stepped out at Wimbledon hours after it was announced that the BBC were letting go of Winterwatch.

It is another scorching day in SW19 for day four of the Wimbledon Championships, and one person who joined the celebrities at the annual competition is British TV presenter, Michaela Strachan.

Michaela, 60, was all smiles at the tennis tournament despite the news that her show Winterwatch had been axed from the BBC to make way for a new, year-round podcast called Naturewatch.

Michaela looked beautiful as she joined the Princess of Wales in the royal box, wearing a navy blue patterned dress as she beamed at the court. Meanwhile, she wore her blonde hair down and straight.

What have the BBC said about the change?

Jack Bootle, the head of commissioning, specialist factual, said: "Nature never stops - and neither should we. Every week, Naturewatch will give Springwatch fans - and all wildlife lovers - a new way to stay connected to the natural world, whether that's on TV, iPlayer or Sounds."

'The BBC is committed to celebrating British nature across all our platforms, and we hope this new series will encourage audiences to fall in love with the natural world around them.

"By expanding the Watches brand, we are making the BBC's brilliant Natural History content even more accessible."

Winterwatch was first on screen in 2012 and was initially hosted by Chris Packham and Kate Humble, before Michaela replaced Kate in 2013.

Who else is in the royal box today?

As well as being joined by the future Queen, Michaela was in the royal box with Ellie Goulding - who sang at the Prince and Princess of Wales' wedding in 2011 - who attended the competition with her partner Beau Minniear.

Tennis royalty Andy Murray was also a big name in the box today and was seen chatting away to the Princess of Wales as they watched the Women's Singles.

Prior to settling in for the match, Kate started her day at the tennis off by meeting people in 'The Queue' who have been waiting at the iconic venue since the early hours of the morning. She was also introduced to the volunteer stewards who supervise the winding queue.
