Sarah Ferguson was once living the high life, living in the 30-room home Royal Lodge, alongside her ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
And it appears that the 66-year-old had plenty of demands for those who worked for her. According to Andrew Lownie's book, Entitled, which charts the fall of the former Duke and Duchess of York, Sarah would always demand a cream cake every day, even if it wasn't eaten.
Andrew Lownie wrote: "Another member of staff told filmmaker Dominic Morgan, 'Every day, the chef was ordered to make a sizeable cream cake'. If it wasn't eaten, it was thrown away and a fresh one baked the next day, regardless."
He also claimed that personal trainers "waited on call", even though they were never used, one person was employed solely to sort Sarah's tablets, and that she would often buy her own books to distribute as presents.
Fall from grace
Although Andrew was implicated in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal years ago, last year, a tranche of emails revealed that Sarah had remained in contact with the convicted paedophile following his jail term, even calling him a "friend".
Due to their involvement, the pair were stripped of all of their royal titles and ordered to vacate Royal Lodge. While Andrew moved into a property on his brother's Sandringham estate, Sarah's whereabouts remained a mystery until last month.
The Sun published images of the mother-of-two staying at a ski resort in Austria. In the photos, she was seen emerging from a Mercedes while wearing a blue coat and a white baseball cap.
Sarah had previously been reported as being seen in areas including Switzerland and Ireland, and reports also emerged that she had been staying with close friend Priscilla Presley in the United States, although Priscilla dismissed the claims.
Amid her downfall, Sarah has one positive piece of news to look forward to, as her youngest daughter, Princess Eugenie, confirmed that she was pregnant with her third child.
In the latest issue of HELLO!, our royal editor, Emily Nash, explained: "While their grandmother and grandfather have spent plenty of time with August and Ernest, they are likely to keep more of a distance this time around, although I'm sure Sarah will find it very hard to stay away from a new grandchild."
