Princess Sofia of Sweden announced back in March that she was pregnant with her second child. Recently she has turned heads while out and about in Oslo wearing a number of stylish pregnancy looks.

Over the years, we have been blessed with many a royal birth, and watched as the elegant mothers-to-be glide effortlessly through their pregnancies. From Princess Diana’s bump-skimming gowns to the Duchess of Cambridge’s on-trend maternity ensembles, take a look through our pick of the best dressed pregnant royals over the years...

On 10th May, Princess Sofia’s royal title was well and truly defined, when the mother-to-be stepped out in a beautiful lace adorned dress at King Harald's and Queen Sonja's 80th birthdays gala dinner. Looking a picture of happiness, the elegant snow-white floor-length design beautifully enhanced her blossoming bump.

At the beginning of May, Princess Sofia stunned in another maternity outfit when she attended the Friends World Anti-Bullying Forum in Solna, Sweden. The down-to-earth royal wore a spring-ready floral crochet dress by Swedish high-street store & Other Stories.

Back in April 2013 when pregnant with Prince George, The Duchess of Cambridge visited a children’s hospice dressed her blossoming baby bump for spring in a stylish nude number made by her personal dressmaker which she teamed with an elegant peach coloured coat by Paris-based designer Tara Jarmon. The £380 cotton twill coat was the perfect choice to keep the chilly breeze at bay.

Back in 1982 while pregnant with Prince William, Princess Diana of Wales dazzled in a red David Sassoon maternity gown as she stepped out to attend a function at the Barbican Centre in London. The floor-length design featured bell-sleeves embellished with white lace and a scooping neckline, which she teamed with a diamond necklace.

When Kate was pregnant with Princess Charlotte, she never failed to turn heads as she dressed her growing bump in suitably stylish outfits. When visiting the Resort Studios in Margate back in March 2015, Duchess Kate chatted to locals while looking radiant in a £169 dalmatian-printed coat dress by Hobbs, one of her favourite high-street brands. Her look was completed with a swooping high pony tail and miniature drop earrings.

Princess Mary of Denmark is known for her fashion-forward wardrobe. During her pregnancy with her twins Vincent and Josephine back in 2010, she worked a practical and on-trend look during a visit to Stralsund, Germany, teaming an elegant cream A-line dress, embellished in floral print hues of green, red and pink. Her ensemble was teamed with a pillar box red head piece and grey court shoes.

During her pregnancy, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden was often seen in her favourite maternity brand, Séraphine. On a royal visit to Peru when she was expecting her second child, Prince Oscar, Victoria looked radiant in a vibrant red form-fitting dress, that showcased her bump. Her outfit was accessorised with a gold dragonfly brooch and a black and white floral pin in her hair.

In 2007, shortly before the arrival of her son, Sophie Countess of Wessex looked stunning in a red lace print dress teamed with a feminine tailoured jacket. Sophie was attending the launch of 'In the Moment' DVD, Tate Modern, London. Her outfit was complete with a delicate silver choker and a pair of suede black court shoes.
