Meghan Markle looked elegant in a white wool wrap coat as she stepped out with Prince Harry on Monday following the news of their engagement. The design was quickly identified as a number by Canadian label LINE, retailing at £470. What's more, the brand were so honoured that the 36-year-old chose to wear the coat for such a special occasion, that they have since named the £470 design the 'Meghan' coat.
Meghan Markle's stylish LINE coat has since been named the 'Meghan' coat
The former Suits actress looked elegant and poised in a belted white trench coat, which sold out in record timer as the fiancée of Prince Harry stepped out in the design. The coat is the perfect outwear attire, for it is light enough for both warmer temperatures and when days are a little chilly, like the special engagement day! It appeared that the ‘Meghan Effect’ had already given way, with the brands website crashing after the actress donned the design. The coat is seen as a timeless item, for it could be worn with anything - tailored trousers, a dress and heels, and even over casual items like jeans. It adds a classic stance to any ensemble. The trench features a large collar, and also a high-waisted belt, so is great for defining the waist, like Meghan herself.
Meghan owns a rose dust shade of the LINE coat aswell as the white version worn on Monday
President and Co-Founder of LINE, John Muscat, said in a statement: "We are incredibly honoured that Meghan chose to wear a LINE coat to mark this very special occasion. Meghan has an effortlessly chic sense of style, which we’ve always admired. We know this particular coat is one of her favourite pieces so we have officially decided to name it the 'Meghan.' We are elated for Meghan and wish her a lifetime of happiness with Prince Harry."
HELLO! Online can also confirm that Meghan owns another version of the coat, in a warm, 'Rose Dust' shade. The actress is a fan of Canadian brands, and played homage to the country in a number of ways on Monday. Her coat was teamed with a pair of 18 K gold earrings by Canadian fine jewellery brand Birks, which cost £850. Her outfit – which totalled to £2,068 – was completed with a £328 green P.A.R.O.S.H dress and a pair of £420 Aquazzura 'Matilde' crisscross nude suede pumps.
