Queen Letizia of Spain is known for her modern yet elegant style - and she's only gone and shown us once again that she's happy to step outside of her royal comfort zone when it comes to her wardrobe. On Tuesday, she looked effortless as ever during a visit to a scientific centre in Salamanca wearing a floaty polka-dot dress with navy heels – but it was her statement earrings that caught our attention. In a pretty cuff-style design, the leafy earrings are certainly a more statement look to the usual studs or tear-drop choices usually worn by royalty – aren't they gorgeous?
Queen Letizia's cuff-style earrings
Letizia loves to experiment with her earrings, and has worn everything from the most traditional royal jewels to daring oversized hoops. This year in particular, she's worn some beautiful modern designs for her public appearances – in February, at the opening of the Contemporary Art Fair in Madrid, she looked stunning in another minimal cuff style.

Once again, we can see similarities to the Duchess of Sussex's wardrobe, too, since Meghan also prefers to wear subtle, modern jewellery. In January, she wore her own cuff earring for a visit to Cardiff Castle ahead of her royal wedding to Prince Harry – and back in her days as an actress, she liked to wear statement styles too. Someone set up a meeting between these two, we reckon they'd happily swap style tips!
We love the full polka-dot look!
We think Letizia's stand-out sparklers are the perfect accompaniment to her ultra-chic midi dress, which was perfectly classic with three-quarter cuff sleeves, an elegant pleated skirt and a high round neckline. She teamed the look with a matching blue clutch bag, belt and shoes – the perfect balance between classic and contemporary, we'll have you know…
