Zara Tindall is a regular guest at Royal Ascot, so it comes as no surprise that the avid equestrian was pictured on day one of the Berkshire horseracing event alongside her husband Mike.

The happy couple, who got married in 2011, were pictured smiling as they posed for photos in matching pastel pink outfits. Princess Anne's daughter wore a striking bubblegum puff-sleeve midi dress with a belted waist and scalloped lapels from one of her go-to designers, Rebecca Vallance, accessorising with a matching hat from Juliette Botterill Millinery, suede Emmy London heels and a clutch bag known as the 'Mortimer' from Anya Hindmarch.

As spotted by Royal Fashion Police, she completed her look with her blonde hair in a chic chignon, showing off her Kiki McDonough 'Fireworks' earrings featuring amethyst, blue topaz, peridot and diamond, which cost £5,500.

Meanwhile, former England rugby star Mike cut a dashing figure in a morning suit with a pink tie and a top hat. The pair joined other royals following the carriage procession, with Zara performing the perfect curtsy as she greeted her uncle, King Charles.

Carriage procession

Mike and Zara had decided to skip the royal carriage procession, which is a long-standing tradition that started with King George IV in 1825.

Instead, Zara's newlywed brother Peter Phillips and his new wife Harriet joined Princess Anne in the second Ascot Landau carriage pulled by Windsor Greys, which that travelled behind King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Since Zara is not a working royal, her place in the carriage procession is not guaranteed. However, she tends to make a carriage appearance at least once a year.

Iconic Ascot moments

The former Olympic equestrian regularly makes Ascot her fashion playground. Let's look back at some of her most iconic outfits…

In 2025, Zara surprised fans in a magnificent two-piece suit from Veronica Beard, layered over a luxurious blue silk shirt. She finished her look with a gorgeous fascinator from Jenny Roberts millinery with a contrasting cream bow.

The same year, she had a My Fair Lady moment in a black-and-white Laura Green frock featuring black piping, which she teamed with statement drop earrings and a large Juliette Botterill hat.

In June 2024, Zara attended Royal Ascot in a Cinderella-style A-line dress from Rebecca Vallance. It featured a braided detail around the neckline, as well as a belted waist, and was teamed with silver Dune heels and a pom-pom-adorned hat by Sarah Cant.

Back in 2019, Princess Anne's daughter opted for this pretty midaxi dress by Zimmermann with a beautiful floral print.

One of her most iconic looks was in 2003, when she joined her mother at the five-day horse racing event in a black dress splashed with streaks of orange. The one-shouldered dress with a leg split technically wouldn't meet today's dress code, but it was not against the rules at the time since the official guide was only released in 2012.
