The Duchess of Edinburgh is just like many other members of the royal family in that she tends to scale back her public appearances during the school summer holidays, which are a quiet period for The Firm.

The royal doesn't typically undertake public royal engagements during the peak summer holiday season, but on Wednesday, Prince Edward's wife attended a Promenade Concert by The Hallé as part of the BBC Proms. The event was held at the iconic Royal Albert Hall, and this appearance was important as Sophie is patron of the Hallé Concerts Society.

Looking delightful in red, the blonde royal wore a fluid dress by MATELIER. The dazzling creation was light and floaty, made from chiffon in terracotta, red, and mauve hues.

A playful new addition to Sophie's wardrobe, it featured a V-neckline and a crossed draped detail that finished at the side. The dancer-like skirt boasted delicate ruffles, and the mother-of-two added nude high heels and a coordinating red handbag.

Sophie and Princess Charlotte were spotted in the spectator stands, sharing a sweet moment. During a track cycling event, Sophie and Edward were reunited with the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children. As they took their seats, Duchess Sophie warmly greeted the family, sharing a kiss with Princess Charlotte before catching up with the others.

Days later, Sophie attended the closing ceremony, choosing a striking blue shirt dress, which was elegantly adorned with leopard print. She accessorised to perfection with smart gold statement earrings, but this time, she switched up her tresses.

Sophie debuted a flicked-out style, which was lightly curled under at the ends. This glamorous makeover is the kind of style that was huge in the '90s, and the sleek finish gave her bob a modern finish.
