Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra kept her grandmother close to her heart as the family said a final goodbye to King Harald on Wednesday.

Ingrid Alexandra, the heir to the Norwegian throne, led the royal funeral procession on 9 September in Oslo alongside her father, King Haakon, her brother, Prince Sverre Magnus, and her aunt, Princess Märtha Louise. The young royal walked behind her grandfather's bier as it was transported from the Palace to Oslo Cathedral.

While Queen Sonja travelled to the ceremony by car, her granddaughter kept her close by at all times with a very special tribute.

Heartwarming tribute to Queen Sonja

Ingrid Alexandra looked elegant in a black Dolce and Gabbana coat for the sombre occasion, as identified by Royal Fashion Police, which she paired with opaque tights and a pair of Manolo Blahnik ballet flats adorned with decorative buckles.

The royal swept her hair back in a slicked bun, kept in place by a netted headpiece in black crepe with a veil by British milliner Jane Taylor. For a final heartwarming touch, the Princess wore a diamond heart pendant necklace with a central ruby and a string of pearls, which was a Christening gift from her grandmother in 2004.

The necklace reportedly belonged to Queen Sonja and was said to be a gift from King Harald around the time they welcomed their son, Haakon, who was born in July 1973. Ingrid Alexandra has worn it on several previous occasions, including her 19th birthday in 2023.

She paired the sentimental necklace on Wednesday with matching pearl stud earrings.

The women of the Norwegian royal family all donned pearls and different veil iterations for the state funeral.

Queen Sonja wore a long strand of pearls for the day and kept her face partially obscured with a sheer black mourning veil. Ingrid Alexandra's mother, Queen Mette-Marit, paired her pearls with a wife-brimmed hat and netted veil, worn over her shoulder-length hair.
